In reality I've gotten three refurb LCDs and I haven't gotten a blown pixel on any one of them.
I guess if you get unlucky and get one you have no recourse. But it doesn't mean you automatically are going to have some. No recourse? The Dell Outlet has the same 21-return policy as all of Dell. |

Can anyone say why the new S2409W at $349 isn't a better deal? New, HDMI and 3 year warranty.... Here |

Here
The S2409W is somewhat comprable to the E248WFP which is $299 refurbished. The highly discussed 2408WFP is a higher grade of flat panel. Thanks. I'm thinking HDMI and the warranty worth $50 but will consider the E248WFP. |

Which means very likely you are going to get one and you have to suck it up because you accepted the policy StrawManArg said:People freak out because the refurb POLICY allows for a certain number of blown pixels.

Here For general use (internet, email, office etc.) the S2409W is indeed a better deal. However, those who are concerned with image quality, viewing angle, and accurate color reproduction will opt for the 2409. It has a better panel (S2409W is the lesser TN panel) and costs more for that very reason. |

Interesting thing about the power consumption in these two monitors. The 2408WFP consumes 110 watts while the newer 2409W consumes only 30 watts. That's a pretty big difference. |

It wouldn't be a refurb if the existing problem (most likely dead pixels) are still there. |

Milstar said:It wouldn't be a refurb if the existing problem (most likely dead pixels) are still there. Actually, it can. The refurbed 20" panel Dell sent me as a replacement has a STUCK pixel. Remember, 'up to' a certain amount of dead pixels is considered acceptable. |

I bought a Refurbished Dell E198WFP 19" Wide Screen Flat Panel Monitor though this sale. It came today. I don't see any blown pixels. I'm happy with the purchase. |

Bought refub E248WFP 24". It came today. I love the size of this LCD. It has problem - sometimes colors are corrupted, I checked with DVI and VGA cables - in both cases issue still persist. I discovered if I press the center of the back size - colors are fixed. I'll request replacement or return tomorrow. For now I think that its better to request money return and buy a new one with warranty for 90$ more (329$+taxes+20$ shipping). It gets to work OK after half day passed. I'll really miss this LCD for the period when I'll return/replace it. UPDATE: I left the monitor to work for all night, today when I came to office it is working good without problems. I've tried to make to recreate problem by pressing everywhere on backside - but today it works just fine. I'll wait for one more day - to see how it will work. |
