I thought it was comparable to a X2 4400 (2400 = 45W version). I read a review and it seemed pretty close to the E6300.

Someone on SD suggested to buy refurbished from Mwave. I looked around and found a few AM2 boards as low as $18 + shipping. YMMV and good luck.
