And for this you give the OP red?

Similar is not the same.

Thanks OP! Great deal!

Yea me too, a couple times. They make good multimeters for the price. However the temp sensors like 10 bucks, so this deal isn't too bad.

Good deal on a true RMS meter.

I'm very tempted, but already have 3 cheap multimeters plus a Fluke Scopemeter and 87V.

How does that help us now? Stop living in the past and tell us where to get it now for $10.

True that, and the only model similar to this is even more expensive (99.99), they got the red case models which arent as nice as the one in this thread, and the more expensive one. They are made by Extech, and if you look around for opinions on Extech, they are all good stuff.

the 0.1mV resolution seems very good. Can this be used to test motherboards?

As such it's invaluable for troubleshooting a wide range of electrical problems, assuming you can figure out how to apply it correctly. Some potential uses:

  • Is there any charge on this battery?

  • Is this electrical outlet "hot"?

  • Am I getting enough current to operate this device?

  • Is there a short circuit between these two points?

  • How unpleasant will it be if I touch that wire?

  • etc..

The short answer is: if you don't know how to use it you don't need it, but if you need to troubleshoot simple electrical problems a decent multimeter is usually the first tool you reach for.

a multimeeter is great when I need to determine if a power supply for a laptop is bad or if it is the laptop itself. Helps trouble shoot a lot. A real time saver.

sold out at my nearest 3 stores, and none available for delivery. dang. i wanted two.

Argh! OOS. I wanted one of these. The temperature meter makes this so much more handy than the run-of-mill VOM. A good temperature meter along is usually $30. Hope they do this deal again.

thanks op, in for 1 and in store pickup! Got the $10 one a few months ago, but this is too hard to pass up...looks like a bigger, lighted display, and more capabilities, including temp

Isn't a K thermocouple like a buck? Get one, plug it in and use "the chart"

Chart for translating voltages to C for K thermocouples is here
