You have to install it before the giveaway offer for the software is over.

I guess that means no activation if you ever reinstall Windows and no activation if you wait a day to install.

FYI guys... in the comments people are saying this is a BETA version!

System Requirements: Windows XP, 2003, Vista; Minimum System Requirements: Processor: Intel / AMD compatible at 2500 MHz or higher;

I'm assuming they mean Intel P4 @ 2500Mhz or better....otherwise, it's going to be a little while before I can use this s/w.

If you don't want to install the gotd software today, I've found that this procedure works on Windows 2000 for most gotd giveaways. (No guarantees for XP or Vista.) It extracts the install file from the gotd wrapper program.

--1-- Unpack the gotd-provided ZIP file or run the executable. Let it validate the installation.
--2-- When the installer gets to the "Welcome to ..." page, STOP.
--3-- Find your system's temporary / working directory.* There will be a hidden .tmp file named something like we22C.tmp. It will be slightly smaller than the file that was downloaded.
--4-- Right-click on the .tmp file from above, select Copy. Right click, select Paste.
--5-- Right-click on the copy, select Properties. Clear the "Hidden" checkbox, select OK.
--6-- Rename the copy to (whatever)Setup.EXE .
--7-- Cancel the active installation.

This usually clears the time limitation and produces a clean installation file you can put away for safekeeping. It also eliminates hijacking your browser to their web site at the end of the install.

* Usually under a sub- or sub-sub-directory of "Documents and Settings\yourusername . "Search" wasn't helpful; a DOS box and "DIR /S/A:H" was. I did get tired of that, and hacked the registry to keep all temp files under C:\WINNT\TEMP.

I am able to follow above method and install it on XP. By the way Yes, once installed it says "AVS Video Editor 4.1 Beta"

How do you find the " Find your system's temporary / working directory."?
