Good price, especially for an external. I wonder what drive they actually use in there.

Finally tempted (under $100! ) just wondering if there are any reviews out there?

I couldn't find any reviews and the manufacturer's page doesn't list any detailed specs.

At this price, I bit on the off chance that it'll work with my DirecTV box. If not, I can always use more storage for something else.

Good point. Now, since I don't know much about HDDs, I'm wondering if its speed (apparently unknown whether 7200 or 5400 rpm at the moment) will affect its performance. I'll probably back up music, tv shows (SD and HD) and documents. I want to free up the HDD on my computer.

This is what I found from MacMall website :
Performance Details Bus Transfer Rate (max):
- 60MB/S (USB 2.0)
- 300MB/S (eSATA 300)
Sustained Transfer Rate (max): 68MB/S

Thanks k000. Unfortunately I don't know what that means I think I might bite anyway before I regret it...

I don't think that is true, as it was selling for around $120 till yesterday and is available for around $130 at other places too. So price wasn't earthshatteringly low - only thing earth shattering was that 1 TB external went below $100 mark... which has been my sweet spot and probably many others'.
