NEW MATH WORKING 9/29/08:
269.88 (price dropped!)
- $25 Visa coupon link
-10% automatic Sears clearance sale online only
= 220.39 plus tax.

This is only $6 more than the original deal, and the $5 off $30 purchase coupon should still work, bringing it to $215.39 total plus tax.
And yes, if you follow the instructions above, you PROBABLY will get FatCash!

Bonzo71 at SD said the following

"I have owned this model for a few years. There is a minor flaw in its design..the handle joint(where T shaped screw head on the photo) is weak. No matter how you tight you make it, it will get loose. When it is loose you can not push it hard into the snow. This can be fixed by drilling a hole above and below the joint and putting in an additional nut/bolt(takes about 10 minutes). I have had one rubber drive belt break..so it may be best to have an extra one on hand. Even if you won't be the one fixing it, having the belt will save repair time. It can easily go though 7 to 10 inches of snow...which usually the most we get in SE PA. I paid $299 for it and think this is a good deal(even with the slight design flaw).

He (bonzo71) posted how to quickly take care of that so its not a problem

What it looks like out of box

Picture 2 FROM Bonzo71 at SD after modifications are done

"Gia" also at SD said "I think I'm just going to put on each side 2 hose clamps, 1 above and 1 below the existing bolt"

A couple suggestions to stop a future problem....Hope this is helpful.

This isn't hard to work out, everyone - this is a snowblower for $209 plus tax if you use the $5 coupon, it's NOT going to be a tank with hand warmers and a vinyl mounted "mini-cab." You do get what you pay for to some extent - but if you're aware of the drawbacks of this unit (namely, single-stage pull-start with 21" intake), and are okay with them, this is a smoking hot deal.

Incidentially, I think someone said this earlier, but it bears repeating: the motor alone is probably close to worth the price - $200ish for a new Briggs & Stratton 6.5 ft. lbs. torque (roughly 190cc) engine is not bad. There's a *lot* of equipment that uses this engine or one very similar, so if you have another use for it, by all means, this is a great deal even if you throw away the snowblower parts after removing the engine.

I do want to add that Craigslist is worth a check - there's a good # of snowblowers on there in my area, some of which are very, very attractively priced - people DO move south all the time, so it's worth checking into. Just be careful of older ones - people may be afraid they won't start up this winter.

PoisnBGood said: For those of you who own a Freedom Chase card. Go through the chase rewards store to score another 5% Cash Back. Just save it in your cart, close out the browser, and start from the Chase site.

This comes out to:
additional 5% off via chase website
additional 3% off via chase freedom categories (department store), if you didn't spend more in 3 other categories
additional 2% (25% on 8%) if you wait until $200 to cash out (get $50 bonus when you cash out at $200 or above)

That's 10% more off if you do it with a chase freedom card. Of course this is with all Sears purchases, but $200 is a biggie.

Thanks Cleek--->Consumer Reports makes it clear that Snow Blower's require maintenance.

Wow, nice find!

It's definitely not a "big" thrower from what I can see but perfect for the mild to moderate storm which, really, is most of them anyhow. It's also lighter than my big 10HP one so easier to maneuver.

Get it now, you're not likely to see a snow blower for this price for a long time unless it's one of those crummy electric ones (which are more trouble than they save). Heck, $230 for a 6.5 B&S 4-stroke engine is a nice deal if you need to replace on broken equipment.

If anyone was wondering, 6.5 ft lbs is equivalent to about 190cc, which is good.

Thanks OP. I got 1, green for you. Hope this will work in CT. We do have wet snow so it's kind of heavy snow.

Just picked mine up. A note they also include oil for it. Looks good, although normally I am anxious to use new toys, this one I don't mind waiting

The wife bought me a snow blower 3 years ago. We've hardly had any snow the last 3 years!
