Caught this buried in this thread. Thought this deserved it's own thread because it's a smokin' hot deal. I've been looking for 50" TV and this got me jumpin'.

Bestbuy has the Samsung 50" Plasma TV on sale this week for $999
Link to TV

You get $400 off with combined purchase of this Samsung plasma HDTV and DVD home theater system - Home Theater System is on sale for $379. Samsung - 1200W 5.1-Ch. XM-Ready Home Theater System with Upconvert DVD Player HT-TZ512

Combined price for TV and Home Theater is $977. When you purchase TV rings up for $597, home theater rings up at full price, I'm sure you can see the real deal here. I just picked up my TV, made purchase so I picked up at two different stores, have receipt for TV at $597, I still haven't picked up my Home Theater, might be a long while before I do

Thanks to MysticMan1 who pointed out the sale on Samsung and edscholl for mentioning the special pricing discount w/home theater.

Wow - good buy! Wonder if you can take back/return the home theater system as I see this is an online deal only. You mentioned you weren't going to pickup the the home theater for a while...doubt they'd just "refund" your money if you failed to pick it up. So you purchase both items online, pick them up at local BB, go back the next day and return the home theater system at full price?

This is their return policy for bundled products:
Bundle Purchases
You may return bundle purchases in accordance with our standard Return Policy. If you are unsatisfied with an individual item you purchased as part of a bundle package, you may return that item separately.

Note: In some cases, a bundle discount has been applied to each item. You will be refunded the discounted price, which may differ from the price if you purchased it individually. To review the amount you will be refunded for each individual item within the bundle, visit the My Account page after you submit your order.

So does anyone know if they will refund the full price of the HT system if you return it later or never pick it up?

ya,
i would like to know how, please.
i didn't see a way to mark cash when pick up, so ocording to policy- wouldn't they just charge full amount when you didn't buy both after awile?
i really would love this deal if i needed the speakers- but don't see a way around them.

this looks very doable. you could even get the TV shipped and order the HTS for pick up and never go get it

How YMMV is something like this? Will this lead to harassment from Best Buy calling to ensure pick up of both?

Wow, I wish I needed a new tv! Good find OP!!

I see no way around this. You must pay the Subtotal: $977.98 + tax to get this. WHen you return the home theater system, you will pay the full price. If you dont pick it up, you still ended up paying the full price to place the order

This is an Extremely huge YMMV....I am guessing very few if any will get this deal

Just my 2 cents worth...without crapping

Edit to add. Good Luck to all and congrats if you are successful..it would be a good deal

Flame away all you want, it wont change the fact that this probably won't happend the way the OP hoped

Not true. Order with free delivery and never go to pick up the HT system. They cannot charge you fopr something that was never picked up.

Not too long ago I ordered a Kodak C613 + one DVD movie from Bestbuy; as a bundle-deal, the camera cost less than $50 (don't remember the exact number).

The DVD never shipped. Instead I found a charge of $25 something from Bestbuy to my AMEX card a few days later. I figured that they don't have the DVD to ship, and decided that I should pay them for not shipping the movie I purchased.

I called AMEX and they suspend the charge and said they'll discuss with Bestbuy. No further notice yet.

And this relates to this deal how?

Thanks for posting OP. I have absolutely no use for a 50" Plasma, so naturally I've ordered one. I suppose I have some time to figure out if I really care to keep it or not before they deliver it.

Well if you read the OP about "not picking up the Home Theater, you'll know how this is related.
I was charged an additional $25 to make up for the full price for the camera, only because BB failed to ship part of the bundle.
And now the OP is talking about intentionally not picking up part of a bundle. Very YMMV.

Exactly

BB does charge you the full amount before you pick up the item. However if you fail to pickup the item after 8 days, BB will cancel it. The question is whether they will refund the whole $379. I would suspect it is just YMMV. Some people might get. Others not. You simply take your chances & hope you are charming enough to convince their CSR's if you happen to have a problem later.

Order from two different stores, pick up TV, get receipt. Never pick up HTS. They can't charge you for something you don't pick up, rules be damned.
