I guess Toshiba is too embarrassed to sell their own player with their own name. They had to call it Venturer.

Wait, isn't that like saying, why spend $15k on a Corolla when you can spend 300% more and get a CLK or something?

Does this play DIVX?

In for one! Please no 300 or Bourne Identity...

I'll grab one. Why not. For that price, there are a handful of kids movies for under 3 bucks that I can get for this and keep my toddler happy.

The SHD7000 doesn't (at least not that I've seen) bundle an HDMI cable so if you want one be sure to take a couple of minutes and order one from Amazon, 6' cables are available for under $5 shipped.

While you're at it do a search from my thread from a few weeks ago on now to d/l the latest firmware from Toshiba and update it in order to help with several issues including the very slow startup and dvd-eject times. Or, you can connect it to your home network and update the firmware over the Internet.

Thanks for that link. Nice to see Toshiba still enhancing and supporting these units.

Thanks OP. I was on the edge last time this was around, and waited too long. Now, it's cheaper. This time around, I'm in for one. Thanks!

$200 for a BR player? Care to enlighten us where to find a good one for $200?

Actually, that's an old link. Toshiba updated this week to 4.0

Firmware 4.0

I can't find a link for 4.0 firmware with a .iso file. Anyone have that?

How weird is that. Yesterday, I used my HD-A3 to update online. It said update already applied. (I have 3.0 installed from a couple of weeks ago). So as of yesterday, the ethernet update only offered 3.0.
