um why would a thing like this be refurbished?

alert mods

already in for 2!

I got this around 6 months ago when pinnacle first released this card as a Woot exclusive. This card is a pain in the ass to get working under XP or Vista and clearQAM only seems to work if you do a raindance and run 3 anticlockwise laps of your house. The newer drivers have improved performance a bit and its a little more stable now. You should check the pinnacle forums and fastsilicon's review before you buy this. I guess at the price it may be worth a shot.

i had a usb adapter tv thing by pinnacle for my laptop. worked great. sort of made my laptop make a very loud humming noise which was annoying though.

ANYWAY - point is - great price. green OP.

also to justwantmymoney - yeah i don't know why this would be refurbished. odd.

probably because folks couldnt figure out the drivers. in for 3. thanks OP.

in for one, thanks. now can anyone name a good OTA hd antenna that will work with this?

edit: from woot's discussion forum, looks like this was sold last year for $50 + $5 shipping. it seems like many were unhappy with it's performance so they returned it, and now woot is offering them for this price $19.99 + $5 shipping. for the price, i'm willing to try it out, a couple have said that it works great, while the majority says no.

it looks like new drivers/software has been released since last year when this product was first sold on woot, thus making this card work a lot better then a year ago, which gives me (and some of us) a little satisfaction for the purchase...

hopefully, if paired with a decent hd antenna i can watch a couple of free OTA hd channels... we will see...

I have this card with latest Beyond TV (v.4.82). It works fine, but lacking CC is kind of annoying to me. Otherwise it's a good product.

amen! but I bought a winTV one, it does not have it either on the WinTV 1600. I can't wait till it is required by hardware makers of ATSC products!

BTW, you can get captions on analog channels by getting it to work with MCE

Is ClearQAM still that bad with the latest drivers when using it with a 3rd party app like GBPVR?

trust me on this one: PCI express x1 cards only. I do not think most people are smart enough (these days) to allocate irq's any more.

thanks OP. in for 2 for mythtv build. i understand there may be pci bus limit with HD but ill take my chances.

Just say antenna, there is no such thing as an HD antenna. What works for analog works for HD. Adding "HD" to the printed boxes of antennas is marketing.

Thank you. Every time I'm in Radio Shack and hear the salesperson telling some poor schmoe something like how he "needs an HD antenna to receive HD TV" I want to run over and strangle him.

I have two USB HD tuner from KWorld for less than this. You can use them for both desktop and laptop. They have been working great and I am able to pick up a lot of HD channels even with the tiny antenna that it comes with. The only problem is that it only comes with a strip down version of the software (Arcsoft-Total Media). I tried the full version and Sage TV, they both worked fine. If I could find a sale on these, I will get one.

Yeah, I'm not going to try that link again... I found this review through the pinnacle site.

Same - Have Mythbuntu running with an old PCTVHD card but there is supposed to be Linux support for this card. Soon I'll have a remote control! and for 1/4 the the BuyMore price.

Not limited at all. You realize that all it does is save the compressed streams right? I have 3 running in one machine right now. I just got 2 more so hopefully I'll have 5.
