I would stay clear of this particular model. I bought one a while back and it failed after a few months. Got a replacement thru warranty and they send a new unit, but it failed in only one month. I'm hoping this new one won't fail me this time.

BTW, it's cheaper to send the unit to their Texas RMA Dept using a flat rate Priority Mail Box than shipping any other method.

Maxtor has always had a reputation for drives that fail. I have owned probably 8 WD drives without a single failure. I owned one Maxtor drive and it failed.

I had two of these in the last 6 months...both failed after about 2 months....stay away from these.

The Maxtor 4's are a complete disaster. Check Amazon for reviews .
Short version..the chip set is CRAP !. Data loss is a given.
Stay AWAY !
