nice deal... but does this actively charge the ipod/iphone, or just provide a backup battery to use till the AA's are done, then go back to the iPod/iPhone's internal battery?

According to one of the Amazon reviews it actually charges the battery, which surprised me a bit.

ya i saw that, and after looking into it some more I found the demo video at the energizer product page. It shows an iPod nano being actively charged from, empty to full. That put me over the edge, i'm in for 1.

i still haven't received mine yet. i dont think i've ever had an item take so long to ship.

Also have not received mine as of 10/17. USPS tracking number was provided 10/7. USPS website only indicates:
"The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on October 7, 2008 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later."
Pretty disappointing service.
