If you don't want bluetooth, get a Nuvi 350 for $10 cheaper here

That's ALL the difference between the 350 & 360. Nothing else...

If you think the bluetooth feature is worth $10, then go for the Nuvi 360! If not, get the 350.

Bluetooth is easily worth $10. Lots of states with handsfree laws.

12/24-volt adapter cable = vehicle power cable

I have purchased several of these for family and friends. They have always come with the vehicle power cable. The only other items I purchase are the beanbag or permanent dash mount as I don't like the windshield mount. I just ordered another one this morning.

thnx. gonna grab one and replace my older C550, that I love, and will sell which ever I don't like better...

Does anyone know which maps are loaded on the 350? Amazon site says most recent, but some reviews say 2008. Also, can you upgrade the maps? I'm deciding between the 350 and the 260 as a birthday gift for spouse.

Thanks!

Can someone help answer a newbie question? Is it possible to change the voice sound to speak direction in Chinese? Thank you!!!

you may get the newer 2009 maps, but if you dont, dont worry, a free update to 2009 maps is available. just check the garmin website.

as for chinese, it does speak chinese in three different dialects, cantonese, mandarin and taiwanese. it wont however, speak street names in chinese, just directions.

I regret buying the Nuvi 660 (widescreen) for $220 now... I thought the 350/360 was gone...

How do you make it speak Chinese? I can't find any sort of Chinese options anywhere in the Nuvi 350 or 360. Do I have to install something or buy something on the website?

alert mods

According to the Garmin website, you have to update to the newer version (look under Changes made from version 3.90 to 4.30) to have Chinese.

I bought the 255w and am not happy with the voice/sound. The speaker is in the back of the unit and it sounds very tinny (if tinny is a word) but does anyone have this unit and what is the sound quality?

I have the Nuvi 650, and the sound quality is pretty bad. Not as good as the TomTom. I can barely hear it on the highway, even at 100% volume.

BTW, tinny isn't a word, but tiny is!

I have this unit and the sound quality is pretty good IMO

If you're looking for good sound quality, I recommend the StreetPilot C580 ($159.99 @ Amazon). Has TTS, Bluetooth, MSN Direct.

Can anyone comment on the Bluetooth capability of these? i.e. are they good enough to use as a hands-free speakerphone, replacing a bluetooth headset for in-car use?

alert mods

The bluetooth on the 360 works very well as a handsfree speakerphone, nice and clear. i was happy to see the ability to dial and answer calls and access your phones address book via the gps system, btw worth well over an extra $10 .

Thanks for the link. I can get Chinese speech now. However, I'm still looking for a way to get it to display Chinese menus instead of English. (So my parents can use it).

In terms of bluetooth and loudness and sound quality: my TomTom One was louder, but I find my C320 and my Nuvi 650 (essentially the same as 350/360 in terms of hardware) to be loud enough at 90% volume. (I need 100% if I'm on the highway and playing music) You have to consider the fact that some people have very quiet cars (Lexus/MB). Also, sound quality is quite subjective...I think my Nuvi plays music at the an ok sound quality when I'm driving around town (under 50 mph), but on the highway, it won't compare to even the cheapest built-in car FM radio.

And bluetooth speakerphone: Its as good as a speakerphone will work in a car. Again, if your car is noisy, don't expect it to work well.. (get a good noise cancelling headset instead)... but for $10, its a good extra feature to have over the Nuvi 350...
