Buy with Mastercard or VISA Platinum, or AMEX, and get one
year extended warranty for a total of four years.

I don't see where it's so bad on Newegg. For external storage
it's ok anyway, with that two year warranty.

I have ASUS A7N8X Deluxe 2.0 that has SATA. To my understanding this drive should work with SATA 1. Any suggestion?

I agree with those bad reviews. Stay away from Maxtor to avoid future headaches. I had two drive and both of them died soon after 1 year. I would not keep them even if I get FAR.

Nice price...just like memory prices drive costs are dropping with
the low demand and weak economy....memory prices are forecast
to continue to drop at least thru Xmas...expect even better bargains
for both this holiday season with sales the weakest in 24 years.

thanks OP. last time i bought it for $57.73 AR (after tax and filler and cpn). called to adjust price and got $21.48 back.
$36.25 for 500gb hd can't beat that. Wish i bought more . i jumped on two this time for $83.51, surprisingly didn't have to add filler and coupon went through just fine. ~$120 for 3 HDs. thanks again

These are ALL rebadged Seagate drives now. These ones should be either 7200.10 or .11. If you bought one a year or more ago there's a chance you got a 7200.9 or .8. There were known problems with the .9 (I think). Check the label on the top of the drive, bottom left or right corner should show 7200.x and you'll know.
