Buy with Mastercard or VISA Platinum, or AMEX, and get one
year extended warranty for a total of four years.

I don't see where it's so bad on Newegg. For external storage
it's ok anyway, with that two year warranty.

Thanks, Great Deal, In for 2!!

For me, the link leads to a Wikipedia article on Bromine! Just too funny.
(There is a <br in the link, which I think gets googled on, leading to Wikipedia.)

Or, add the 320 GB portable WD drive for $100 + a filler, and use a $30/$150.

i've used this drive before and it's failed on me, but two for 78 dollars, can't complain.

I bought it yesterday for 59.99+$15 filler -$25 coupon (25off75)=50+tax. Today I called in to do a price adjustment. Will that fail my coupon?

I own two of these and they're running great after a year already

I have ASUS A7N8X Deluxe 2.0 that has SATA. To my understanding this drive should work with SATA 1. Any suggestion?

Thanks, in for 2. I used $25 off $75 coupon so got 2 for $82.19 shipped after tax after coupon cost.

I agree with those bad reviews. Stay away from Maxtor to avoid future headaches. I had two drive and both of them died soon after 1 year. I would not keep them even if I get FAR.

$81.30 for 2 and a dozen ballpoint pens shipped! Use the $25 off $100; it's a buck cheaper, and you get to pick a filler!

Nice price...just like memory prices drive costs are dropping with
the low demand and weak economy....memory prices are forecast
to continue to drop at least thru Xmas...expect even better bargains
for both this holiday season with sales the weakest in 24 years.

One or three years warranty ?
Staples says three, but neweggs one.

thanks OP. last time i bought it for $57.73 AR (after tax and filler and cpn). called to adjust price and got $21.48 back.
$36.25 for 500gb hd can't beat that. Wish i bought more . i jumped on two this time for $83.51, surprisingly didn't have to add filler and coupon went through just fine. ~$120 for 3 HDs. thanks again

These are ALL rebadged Seagate drives now. These ones should be either 7200.10 or .11. If you bought one a year or more ago there's a chance you got a 7200.9 or .8. There were known problems with the .9 (I think). Check the label on the top of the drive, bottom left or right corner should show 7200.x and you'll know.

in like flint.. added box of paper clips $1.19 lol

Nice deal! In for 2. I've been running a Maxtor 500GB SATA for over 2 years and it's been reliable (older model STM3500630AS). Hopefully these newer models are even better. Mine is quiet, can barely hear the head seeking. Much quieter than the Seagate 200GB also in my system. Always place a fan to blow fresh air directly across the drives. It's an inexpensive way to prolong the life of the drives.

I don't trust Maxtor or Seagate anymore.

WD, Samsung, and Hitachi, in that order.

Super cheap filler ($.25) : item 211797

In for 2. Thanks

I just brought one last week when it was $40 after coupon ($65).

Does Staples have price adjustments? (I opened the drive already...)

Can I use the same $15 off $75 coupon twice? (I mean the same type of coupon...different code)?

Yes, they do. That's what I just did 5 minutes ago. Go to their website > contact us > online chat.

Anyone having problems buying coupons ?
Every $25 dollar one is sold out !

dead...oos

Not only is it OOS, I was shot down for price adjustment (she claim it will bring my total to under $65 and my coupon would be void...)

Live-chat didn't work as of 1:30pm (its suppose to).

I got mine with the Antec Enclosure MX-100 I PM to Fry's for $12 but they added $20 next day shipping. If you live closer to Frys you may have better luck.

took them right out of my cart

Is this available in-store?

It showed 4 day shipping that usually means not in store.

Is "Maxtor Basics SATA II/300 Internal Hard Drive Kit" the same as this Ultra16? I ordered item #638656 and was sent this Maxtor Basics.
Also I was shut down for the price adjustment as well.

And what annoys me more is that after I was shut down for the price adjustment then I asked if it is the same drive and if I should exchange it, the CSR was laughing at me as if I am a scammer...

Can't believe you said hitachi. A lot of my work's Dell computers with hitachi drives die way ealier than systems equiped with WD and Seagate.

I was also shot down for a price adjustment by phone, but someone mentioned using live-chat and got his $15 back. I can't get it to work today, so I emailed them instead and I just got confirmation that they will refund $16 to my credit card ($15 price adjustment + tax).

Thanks!

Dang, it don't matter = you have 4 years warranty
using your MC, VISA, or AMEX credit card

Hmmm.. I wanted to report on something.

I've switched out a Seagate 250gig (7200.10) SATA with this drive a few days ago. Today, when I turn on my PC, it gave me a "Hard disk read failure" (or something like that). I turned off the PC and back on again and I'm ok again....

I'm very worried now. I do remember some muffled clicks every once in a while...

I'm backing up all my data. But otherwise, this drive performs noticably better than the Seagate (suppose to one of those 1 platter SATA2 7200.11 drives disguized as a 7200.10)... (Sandra benchmark 85.3 vs. the seagate's 76.91 on a faster Intel PC)
