Good price. Too bad my PSU is old and won't work with 24 pin connector. |

The price looks good. "Max memory 4G", could this be an issue? I hope this can work with the Intel e7200 CPU and EVGA 384MB 9600 GSO video card I bought recently. |
In order for this to be a good deal, wouldn't it have to be worth more than the price? With MUCH more reputable boards available for not much more than this, I'd say this is cold. Frys B&M basically gives these away with CPU purchases all the time...and that's pretty much all they're worth. |
Thanks for all the red. I'm just trying to steer you guys clear of a bad deal. For example, right now you can get a Q8200 for $210 at Newegg. Last weekend you could get a Q8200 plus this exact motherboard at Frys for $200. That puts the value of this board at -$10, doesn't it? I'm sure you can find many of these unopened on eBay for next to nothing because people buy them to get the processor. I've personally bought a dozen or so frys combos with ECS boards over the last 5 years and guess how many systems I have running on ECS boards? Zero. They're THAT good. Friends don't let friends run on ECS. |
TallyHooHoo said:Friends don't let friends run on ECS. Well, I've had multiple ECS MB's and never had a problem with any of them. This deal is for someone who already has the processor, and maybe wants to upgrade to a faster one someday, but needs a new MB now. I'm looking at replacing an Asrock MB which somehow has one bad memory slot, so maxes out at 1 GB of memory. |
I have this motherboard, got it from the 4th of July sale at Fry's with an E8400. It works okay except for the onboard NIC. It kept losing connection so I bought a cheap PCI NIC instead. |
Have installed dozens of ECS boards in my day, and they're just as stable as the other guys. A bit basic, but stable. |
I've never had any problems with ECS boards with Intel chipsets. But I have to agree, that if you have a Frys nearby, you're better off waiting for the combo with the cpu flavor you want. |
try to upgrade the firmware, that should fix it. I have the same board but never loose the connection. any one here got solution for spdif out from the pins. cvrefugee said:I have this motherboard, got it from the 4th of July sale at Fry's with an E8400. Shuttle used to make a SPDIF-to-optical adapter cable that you could route through an open PCI slot, but I believe it's been discontinued. Link to Product Specs at Newegg Here's a link to a website that claims to have stock, and you might be able to find others by doing a search for "Shuttle PC17": Cheers, |
I picked up an E8500 + this mobo and it didn't work together. It would read the CPU info, RAM info, then hang. Pressing Del for set up wouldn't work. Swapped RAM to slower speed / different make, same problem -- no other components were installed. The BIOS carried on it dated back to mid-late 2007, long before the E8500 was released. Some people on either this forum or SD mentioned it wouldn't work for this reason, and that I'd have to flash the mobo with a new BIOS. Unfortunately I didn't have a spare compatible CPU to flash with, so I just returned it for a Gigabyte board. |
That ECS G31T-M motherboard is part of this combo deal. If you do go for the combo, shipping might kill the deal. |
Can someone use a Matx board on a standard tower? |
