Is it worth the risk going with unknown brand?

Two years ago I busted my butt on Black Friday out in the cold at o'dark thirty in the morning just to buy a 42" Plasma. Haier brand. Never heard of it, until I researched it. The same people that sell all the appliances in your house.

buddy, haier is a famous brand in china and they have sold electrics in US for many years. but the "shell" is totally a different story. Nobody ever heard it.

FWIW, I've seen a few articles saying that there will be a surplus of LCDs over the next few months due to increases in manufacturing capacity and the poor economy. They expect pricing to drop accordingly and if I remember correctly the sweet spot would be many 32" LCD TVs going for about $350.

not that I am dissing you, but I bet that was the only plasma you've had.
How many plasma's does someone have to own before you aren't dissing them?

I've owned 42" vizio plasma, 50" Vizio plasma, 42" Sceptre LCD, 52" Philips LCD, 50" Panasonic Plasma, and 42" Philips Plasma to this date. Best TV I've had was 52" Philips LCD so far.

I just can't trust anyone claiming to have the best TV in his life when in fact he busted his butt on black friday to buy a haier brand for $499.

Haier is a big manufacturer of Refrigirator and washer/Dryer. They are also one of the few all in one electric washer/dryer maker. They are new to LCD and most likely be badging other brand tv
