Is this worth camping out for? Do you think that there will be "campers" for this sale?

alert mods

Hi, guys. Is it available at WalMart store? How do I check if it's available at my city. The website shows it is now available here.

I hope not, if so forget trying to get a deal on a laptop on BF.

Noticed they changed some one the online deals this morning.

Im currently at the Hialeah Gardens store waiting in line. Got here about 6am and there was already about 20 people lined up. Its 45 mins before 8 and theres about 60 people in line right now.

as others have posted, the laptop isnt a great deal just because of the processor but for only waiting in line 2hours it beats 12 hours plus like i did last year for the bestbuy laptop.

supposendly at this store they have "plenty" - one figure floating around is 100 but not too sure if i believe that. Ill report back once im done.

Just called one local WalMart and they said there are lines.

certainly not..you can get a laptop with a better processor shipped to your door for about the same price on eBay with live.com Cash Back.

Ok, I couldn't sleep last night so I camped out. I arrived at 1:42am. Someone else showed up around 2:30am. By 5am there were five of us. Yes, I could have slept in, set my alarm for 4:30, and still snagged one. (My original plan, before I couldn't sleep.)
Droves of people showed up around 6:30. Thankfully, I made a list. And the electronics dept cashier was also waiting outside, so I got her to accept "the list".
Get inside, they decide to hand out vouchers at 7:15 or so (why not before the store opened? That would have made the most sense.) The store opened at 7am, even though the sale didn't start until 8. Handed out vouchers according to the list. Got some latecomers attempting to argue with the cashier. How lame.
Finally got out of there, and I'm going to try to get some sleep. What a pita.

If I had it to do over again, I definately wouldn't. Especially not for a celeron! At least, the laptop isn't going to me, it's going to a good cause (relative).

Left at about 7:45am and show up at one of many local Walmarts at 7:50am. There was a line, but they had 40 laptops. I got one of the last 5 or so.

i think all the naysayers for this laptop are all ebayers trying to keep the product for themselves. you aint gone get no c2d 8400 laptop for same, without using a credit card/or busting some heads in the lines outside the store.

i bought the Toshiba celeron 430 )with vista basic upgrade) for $250 at the best buy after thanksgiving sale two years ago, and i don't regret it one bit. it is my main away surfing machine.

alert mods

Agreed. This laptop is better than the Atom Crap anyday, which are priced more than this one. Unless you value/need a smaller size, this 15.4 machine is quite good for the price. Granted it is no speed demon, but for 298, it is fairly good bang for buck as a overall package. It should perform most of the work needs of regular home users just fine. All laptops coming out with this new version of Celery (Intel just released CPU Q3 08), are priced easily 100-150$ more for the same spec.

There might be something cheaper on BF, but for 25-50$ less, I personally don't want to stand dozens of hours in queue on BF.

I went ahead and bought the ps3 with the $100 gift card deal, then used the gift card to buy the laptop. I was planning on getting a ps3 eventually anyway and the laptop will be a gift for my 13 year old daughter. So the specs won't matter much to her anyway.

But overall I'd have to say this laptop isn't all that bad.

alert mods

You guys really go early and stand on line for deals like these?

alert mods

now that everyone OVERPAID for single core at DUAL core price.. what time
will you wait for bf deals... these "deals" have everyone confused...

let alone the price drop coming for ps3's
