The Samsung 24" TV/Monitor is a very good price also. Model number is T240HD. Check its specs and reviews on Newegg or Amazon. Has some minor disadvantages (can't be wall mounted, no USB, tilt only adjustment) but the picture is spectacular. Jake |

Does anyone know if Costco will take a coupon for something I bought earlier without having to do a return/rebuy? |

I worked for one of these stores and one of the keys in making them work is keeping "shrinkage" to a minimum. Shrinkage is the total product that is lost once it is in the store and comes from theft, damage, and (sometimes) mismamagement. An average store has a 10% shrinkage rate. Costco works for a 2-3% rate. By making people pay to get in and shop and checking everyone at the door, they keep this rate low. It's a reasonable thing to do. horizon6 said:sdhamblin said:Off-topic (I should be shot for taking this off topic)...
One day shopping at Costco I was late getting somewhere, had to wait in line forever to check out, and then there was a huge backup at the receipt checker at the exit. I had kind of decided that I thought this second process amounted to an illegal search anyway, so I headed for the door.
They asked me to stop, but I just kept walking-my receipt was already in my wallet and I didn't feel like getting it out. A whole crew of shopping cart retrievers ended up at my car as I got in. I asked if they had grounds to stop me, no one answered. They had no grounds to detain me, as no one had seen me walk out of the store without paying for anything, since I had paid. So I got in my car and drove away.
After reading the membership agreement, they do spell out this exit door procedure, so if I'm not going to comply, they have the right to take away my membership. At any other non-member establishment though, I think this would still be considered an illegal search-that's why we only see it at membership places.
I thought it was a funny story, thought I'd share. I've shown my receipt since then, once I realized I had agreed to it by being a member and shopping there.
Apologies in advance for this OT reply to the OT comment.
The story is not funny. It is unfortunately a sad commentary on the state of our society that stores needs to take the precautions they do. But it is not fair to the retailer in question to single it out and cast the shadow of a problem not of their making on them while using guesses of the law. Other stores, including non-membership stores, act similarly. For example I've experienced at least one big box home improvement store located near a Costco checking receipts at the exit. Other stores, where practical, use less obvious detector "gates" at the exit. Some stores use means that unfortunately are too invasive of one's privacy. But, remember, if merchandise is removed from stores without being paid for, you as a shopper will face higher prices and then what will your comment here be?

roxio has a $20 upgrade rebate on the roxio Creator 2009 software. Looks like it will work for Costco making the coupon deal much better. Text |

Your dignity for hundred of discount. Your being consider of theft exchange for money. I had to forgot the general law that police had to prove me guilty. I had to prove myself not guilty for the convinence of adminstration of rule enforcer even they had no decent doubt. Haaa! |

This is a type of management, to reduce lost. And you have to agree with this by join the club. So if that's such a big deal for you, just don't bother, and pay for the lost brought by many people that steal from other stores. You might consider that is fair. I do lost prevention, and I know how big a problem that is. People are not like you heard from news putting a frozen chicken under their dress, they push a cart full of baby formula or liquor out, easily reach 1000 bucks. And then sell them on eBay. Unfortunately, you are paying for that. |

Actually, their claim of 14 or 15% markup on all products is untrue...at least not on premium wines. I still like Costco, but I think they should exhibit some truth in advertising on this point. They do not stick to the 14 or 15% markup claim on all products. |
