Its Onions favorite for a reason. I got one for FAR last year from CC. My 15.4" Laptop just barely fits on it. I monitored the temps with the cooler and without and saw no difference. I even opened the thing up and reversed the fans. No improvement there either. Might be good for use on the couch or in bed, but even then its a pain. Been thinking of picking up one of those lapdesks with a large flat surface and pillow on the bottom. Got one for my sister from Linens & Things a few years ago and it works great. Thing is, this is for sure not the same Antec cooler Onion disliked so much last year. This is a different model.
Now of course Onion might dislike this model with the same passion. I don't know.
But I own two of the earlier model Antec coolers, the one with the aluminum top. I like them very much and use them all the time. My laptop fans run less with the cooler operating. And of course for anyone who leaves his laptop Li-Ion battery in its bay while operating on AC power, the cooler is a must. [I store my batteries in the refrigerator unless they are in use, which is even better.]
Anyway, I miss Onion, too. I hope he gets on this thread and blasts this cooler to smithereens!

I wasn't around for that debate. But I always thought these things were moronic. I use one of these "passive" coolers when I have my laptop on my lap. And since I already had a similar one (you probably do to) it was pretty much free. Cheap Cooler
I actually got this from frys for that same price during the last round. It actually works well on my 15.4 and the fans blow all the air towards the left half of the surface area below. Most lappy fan vents are on the left so at least it keeps fresh air flowing through the fan intake of the laptop itself.

To the contrary, these work and you (once again) are knowledge base challenged. OP found an excellent price for a very useful product.
May be honorary, but not honorable at all! I wouldn't be surprised if he and "Storerobber" were one and the same. Onion surfaced about the same time the "other" one vanished. Same obnoxiousness, though!
Ordered 2, got them today. Build quality is so-so, fan is a bit noisy on high and marginal on low. They were cheap enough, not sure how long they'll last.
