do you have to search for a particular product? there is a link on the right side saying 20% CashBack for CircuitCity. I didnot search for any specific product.

This whole Live Cash Back ordeal conjures up some bad memories of the infamous "Cyberrebate"... Get people hooked then pull the rug out from underneath them.

Moreover, the discount varies based on the product. I just did a search on few products on live.com and the results for Circuit City store had a discount ranging from 3% - 6%. So, looks like 20% discount may be for certain products only and not for all the products.

You have to search and click on Cash Back. Don't go through the list of stores...

To get the 20% you must click on the ad that says 20% CashBack. Do your search within CC AFTER you click on the ad. Do not search with live.com.

Haha... in this case it's funded by Microsoft so I think we're safer here.

I went through the MS Live link to Overstock.com and made a purchase. At the Overstock main page, I saw a banner saying that the 10% discount is activated. But I did not see anything during the entire check out process. I took a chance and bought it anyway. About 10 minutes later, I got an email from MS Live indicating that I have earned the CashBack.

I don't pay tax at CC (none in my state), but I do pay tax at Amazon (a distribution center in our state), and while you may find items less at Amazon, if it's on sale at cc plus 20% that makes a hot deal.

This definitely changes the Black Friday (and Thursday especially considering you can order from CC.com on Thursday for the BF deals) dynamics surrounding CC's lackluster pricing.

I may need to relook and see if there is anything that is the going rate as everyone else and then be able to reduce by 20%.

No, Live.com is like FatWallet's FatCash/CashBack, or eBates or anyone remember Dash.com?

In any case, Cyberrebates was more like you pay 10x MSRP, and get 95% of that back in a super huge rebate, giving you a net cost of 50% off regular selling price. Buy a $20 item for $200, and get a $190 rebate, and walk away with it for $10.

Here, you buy the items at regular price and get a promised percentage back. If you lose the discount, you still didn't overpay, unless you're scamming the deal by paying more on eBay to maximize the profits.

...and magically it has now become impossible to order a ps3 on their website or via in-store pickup. who woulda thought.

We're all waiting to hear if someone gets a confirmation from MSLiveSearch that the CashBack is confirmed on their purchase...

Try target for the PS3 they are also doing 20%.

I am waiting aswell. I just hope this last into BF. I really wanted to get a 50' Plasma.

Even more so if they use the AAA 10% coupon with it.

alert mods

The problem is, most of the CC stuffs are still overpriced even with 20% off.

Any exclusions? Can I get the 20% back on a fixed-price item like an iPod or an Xbox 360? And wouldn't it make Microsoft happy if I used their link to get a 360?

i think the AAA discount is valid for phone orders and in-store purchases only... so i didn't know how to stack it with the MSlive deal...

Thanks for the sweeping generalities.
