Briefly looked through the desktops. It doesn't look like they have any units with the new Intel i7 processors? That would be a sweet deal.

Under the HP terms, it says "you can't use coupons or discounts" to get CB. What about instant discount? Could they use it to deny the payout? I don't think you can remove the instant discount?

Has anyone used the current Live.com Cash Back (25%) AND Fat Cash at the same time and seen them both reported?

alert mods

In my case, about 40 days waiting, but then they refused to pay me the money.

60 days wait then 7 days to process

Your story doesn't sound credible. You can't "proove" anything. Looser.

You must work for the MS CashBack team. I certainly am not going to waste my time proving it to you! I will prove it when I take them to court. Jerk.

Is there ANYONE who can claim they got a LARGE payment from MSLive that was not eBay related? I am not trying to threadcrap here. 40% is a very good deal, if you get it. I just want to warn people that there is a very good chance you will not get your payment if it is a large sum. And they will not let you know until after you have waited 60 days and can no longer return. There is no way to appeal. They will ignore you. I am out $1000 and you have heard from several others in the same situation.

Everyone who is having problems getting their cash and might be interested in a class action suit, PM me. I will be contacting my lawyer if they do not pay up soon.

After reading all these warnings stuff, I just want to do it even more. It is %40 CashBack, so too good to pass. I'm ready to take the risk. After all, you'll never know unless you try.

Sorry I've never tried this live.com rebate offer before, but considering it due to this. If you don't receive your rebate, can't you dispute charge with your CCC? I was planning on making a purchase via AMEX...

alert mods

Any idea about the Cash Back limit, the Terms and Conditions page doesn't specify anything.

alert mods

The amount may show up in your CB account, but 60 days later when they have to pay, then most problems appear.
I think 60 days is too late to dispute the charge. Additionally, you paid money to HP, but you expect refund from MS. Who are you going to dispute it against?

I was thinking about getting it from HP when they have IR. However, I got mine from eBay with 20% CB but it limits to $200 max. The final price that I paid was about $660. I think it's a good deal.

drmoze said:Forget the HP Mini 1000; the Asus 1000HA is a better deal IMO. You can get them for about $315 after live.com CashBack. Unlike the Mini, it comes with a bigger HD (160GB) *and* a 6-cell battery standard that gives 6+ hours of use. It's several ounces heavier, but easy to upgrade RAM or HD, sturdy, and great keyboard. (The Mini would weigh just about the same after adding the bigger battery, if you buy one.)

The Asus also has a faster HD (5400 rpm vs. 4200 rpm for the Mini) and 1GB RAM (vs. 512M for the Mini) which can be upgraded to 2GB for about $30 or less. (The Mini maxes out at 1GB according to HP specs.)

sweet, where do I purchase the Asus laptop. I search 1000HA doesn't come up.

Er...

The money from live.com...they send you a check in the mail or a credit towards a paypal account? I didn't see that in their FAQ.

How reliable is this? Is this too good?

I doubt you could dispute it with the card company. As far as they know, you paid the full amount to HP. They are not going to get involved in third-party CashBack rebates with MS. Besides, You wouldn't know until 60-70 days after the purchase, which is too late to dispute anything right?

I am in for the class action suit! I am one of the victims. You can see the screenshots on my reply in this thread. I can provide you further information upon request.
My purchases were on eBay. So it's not necessary to be "not eBay related".

Here is the basic logic (and I should have understood it)
The purpose of this Cash Back is to let more people know MSN live search.
How much does it cost to let a person know it?
If you earn $10 CB, they get you as a customer for $10. Good deal.
However, like me, I earned over $700. If they refuse to pay me, they loose me as a customer, but they save over $700. If you are the boss, do you want to acquire a customer for $700?
So they don't care if each customer is satisfied, they care about the cost on each customer.

BTW, what's the point to offer such a high percent of CB? How much money are they burning everyday? And how long can they keep doing this? When the promotion period ends, they will definitely offer regular CB (such as 1%, 2%, etc.), then what's their strength to stand out among the CB websites?

Previously they only offered Paypal payment. But now you can send to your bank account.
My experience is that it totally sucks! I got nothing!

You guys have me a little rattled about making this purchase via HP live.com

The original 40% link opens a browser but nothing happens...was working earlier.

Zixin: Thank you for your input

HP is promoting it though and telling you it is available to purchase their products.

So would screenshots suffice to CYA on this transaction with your CCC?

How does 5 laptops proove that I am buying for business use?
By definition, personal use means for use by you. They don't care how you use it as long as YOU use it. You've already admitted that you don't have possession of 4 of them, so your case is kind of weak. But they should compromise with you and I hope they do.
