No credit card info needed, so I figured that there's nothing to lose by trying...
**edit**
In the email they send you with the code, they provide a link for future discounts (it's the same link as above):
" Here is your free code below, please note that if in the future you need to unlock another Blackberry, you qualify for a special rate. Please keep this link:
Who knows what the discount will be (unsure as to whether it's the present discounts below the free offer), but you fleabayers who are trying to unlock multiple devices may want to check back after the free promo ends...

Enter the wrong code 5 times and your phone is unlockable.

Worth a try. I've got an old Pearl laying around that I keep meaning to post on eBay. This will make it more marketable if it works.
Also, looks like you can only do it once per account. Figured I'd get the code for my current Curve too.

Both AT&T and tmobile will unlock the phone for free anyway. As long as you have been a customer in good standing for more than 90 days. I have unlocked 6 phones from AT&T in the last 2 years. The last one being a BB curve that I bought almost 2 weeks ago.

Only if you enter the unlock code more than 5 times with a different carrier's sim card inserted in the phone

you have to hold it very carefully so it doesn't break when you're punching in the codes...

I don't think the "another carrier's SIM card" clause applies. It is just wrong entry five times, and you cannot unlock it using code entry methods. You can get it unlocked only by taking it to a store where they will do so by attaching it to another device.
DSJ said: Enter the wrong code 5 times and your phone is unlockable. When I unlocked a T-mob Moto V330 some time ago it was 3 attempts not 5. I was having trouble due to a foreign SIM and only got it done on my final try. The phone's screen warning grew more urgent prior to each attempt.

Previously someone mentioned AT&T will unlock your phone as long as you are a customer in good standing with them. I purchased a non-contracted Blackberry Bold from AT&T. As far as I know at the moment, I'm simply not bound to a contract with it, but, it is not unlocked.
Do I simply go to the AT&T store and ask them nicely to unlock my phone or do I call their customer service and ask nicely? I also have an old BlackBerry Curve I would like to get unlocked, too. (I also have an old Palm Treo in perfect condition that was a Verizon phone)
Does Verizon also perform this service?
Regardless, after trying to get a feel for the above answers (thank you in advance for anyone responding) I'll be trying this out. Thanks OP. Green for you!

Call customer service at 18003310500 or the international dept number at 19168434685. Tell them you need the "Subsidy Unlock" code for you phone because you are traveling out of the country and anticipate the need to use a prepaid sim in your phone when you get to your destination.
The will ask for the IMEI number, check their database if they have it there, if so they will give it to you with instructions right on the phone. If not, they will need to get it from the manufacture. They will email it to you with instructions within 24 - 48 hrs. There is a wiki at howard forums AT&T forums with all this information.

Not ture, that's for Nokia handsets. For Blackberry is 10 tries.

I've done this few years back- Very easy to do and free from ur provider
Nice. Worth a shot. I had a razor phone unlocked by AT&T Customer Service (International Travels) previously, but hadn't tried to unlock the BB yet so if this code works that will be great. Otherwise I'll just call in again.
Thanks OP for the post!
