As someone who has shown an interest in camcorders, you might be interested in this amazing deal on the Creative Vado HD Camcorder in black. Simply add the Vado HD to your Shopping Cart, enter promotional code I4PQ9E3S at checkout, and we'll apply an additional $100 savings--so you'll get it for only $129.99!

This limited-time offer applies only to purchases of products sold by Amazon.com. Does not apply to products sold by third-party merchants and other sellers through the Amazon.com website.

Awesome camera! I have had mine for over a month and love it. The only draw back is that the zoom is horrible. Low light is good, outside is excellent. Video is clear and looks great!

Sweet! Been looking for this at a discount ever since I missed the last Amazon deal, and the Creative.com employee deal (not an employe so couldn't use the discount). Thanks OP!

Green for you! Missed BOTH prior deals and was waiting for something like this!

Read the review, decieded to pull the trigger, then realized that it is not in stock from Amazon. It is available from other sellers, but the $100 discount doesn't apply to them. So, if I really want this I guess, I'll have to keep checking back to see if and when Amazon gets it back in stock.

fruthmeister said: then realized that it is not in stock from Amazon.Check again. It may not be the primary seller on the product page; but if you look at the list of More Buying Choices on the right, you'll see Amazon and it was "In Stock" as of this writing.

In for 1. Thanks.

I checked earlier and it was there, even under More Buying Choices, but sure enough it's there now and I got one. Thanks OP!

Also, I just noticed that I get a Free $20 Create-It Reward from Shutterfly with this purchase.

Note that you also get a $20 Shutterfly gift certificate when you buy this camera. The GC code appears automatically in your Amazon media library after you buy the camera.

Flip is owned by Cisco now, so I think that is a much more reliable brand. Also, the Flips generally have better image quality, especially in lower light conditions. At this price, however, the Vado is a great deal.

I got this the first time Amazon had it...

Very easy to use.. Gets good video but it is NOT good for low-light situations (like a room without a sunny window). Outside it does great... No image stabilization..

finally another deal... in 4 1.

Nice got 1

These have been on sale at a few places online with various $100 off offers to get them down to the $130 price range. More than likely the reason is the release of other hd camcorders coming out in the next few months. The Vado is a 30fps camcorder. I don't believe is a still camera also. I think if you want a "photo" you have to edit it out of a movie. On Amazon the RCA EX209HD is "pre-order" for $119. I think another site had them for $99 as a Pre-order for release in just 2 days..(April 1st). It is a 60fps camcorder and an 8mp still camera. It is expandable to 16gb and has a built in HD port. Much better deal for the $120 to $130 price range. The 1080p version the ez409hd will be released in september for $150. Once these are out...the Vado HD will not sell at all for $229...probably even have trouble selling at $130. Why pay $130 for that camera when you can have a 1080p, 60fps and the 8mp still camera for just $20 more. When electronic things have big price drops..it is usually because a better, cheaper competitor is coming out in short order.

Thank you wjhljj for being the voice of reason. I don't need one but needed a reason NOT to buy

if i followed that advice, i would never buy anything electronic...i would just wait until the next great thing came out...

I jumped last deal and have since returned it. The video is jerky and makes you practically motion sick.

Low light performance is bad.

Maybe worth $129, but not much more, IMO. I just use my digital camera to shoot 720p. Looks great and isn't a one trick pony.

^^ the same as an iphone. which is why they added image stabilization in imovie now

but yeah my ancient Sony camcorder WISHLIST!AMEX puts the smackdown on this as far as image stabilization.

you will want to vomit after watching videos from these non-IS products.

of course the 2yr old is fine watching the same video 10 times over but after 2 minutes i've got a migraine.

image stabilization is that important.

crap got this for $148 from creative's website 2 weeks back

There are several pieces of software that do image stabilization after the fact, but that isn't the same thing.
Your ancient Sony camcorder isn't a pocket cam. None of the current pocket cameras in the US have IS.

Back in stock. Thanks OP.

wow someone like Sony should come out with a pocket sized camera that can record video and take pictures with optical image stabilization

I'm in for one. Thanks!

I read a review on this one. when compared to the flip mino HD and some kodak, this Vado won... looks tempting, but I'm holding out for the Caso EX-FC100 720p, 9.1MP, and some features from it's infamous EX-F1 big brother: Hi-Speed Movies (1000 fps, 420 fps, 210 fps or 30-210 fps available), from some slo-mo fun...

Still... this one is the best bang for buck for this new style of portable HD camcorders...

optical image stabilization has always been hackneyed in any single shot or continuous shot (i.e. camcorder) derivative. Usually involved chopping resolution down and less than perfect results... Or in the case of imovie it zooms in on your video, then pans and zooms the video as necessary. Sometimes the zooms can be a bit extreme... so want stabilized vid; get a steadicam.

Edit: Correction, I meant digital image stabilization... thanks Alan69.

That will be really hard to do at this price point. And if they charge $300 for it, no one will buy it.

I bought one the first time Amazon has it on sale, I personally believe the image is perfect on my 50" plasma, and great on youtube also. yes, no stabilizer is a big problem, but the quality of the image is just too good to be true for such a small toy. I am buying a second one as a gift for a family member, thanks.

you could do the old string bolt to camera and other end you step-on ghetto image stabilization

works on camcorders. should help here too.

when you aren't moving.

the fixed focus lens is why these rule. it costs too much to have a moving focus lens at f/2.8. no way no how you'd get that for $100 unit.

really though we all know its the glass that counts and not the resolution. a 640x480 pic with a decent image sensor would smoke a "high def" pocket recorder with a crappy sensor.

mine shipped, should be here tomorrow. Thanks OP!

Anyone waiting on the Kodak Zx1 coming out in a month or so?

Ordered one and ship date is 16th Apr, will wait and cancel in case things don't pan out as expected. I have read most of the reviews but there is no better consensus than buy this and give as gift to a kid with a small tripod.

Got mine today...so far so good... Came with USB extender, HDMI cable, & a silicon case

It seems that the code is already old.

got mine yesterday. it's pretty sweet for the price with discount.

Got mine too. This. Thing. ROCKS. Seriously, way cool, and unbelievable that $100 buys you this kind of tech these days. Image quality is excellent. When you plug it into a Windows machine, the required drivers AND software are automatically downloaded and installed. You don't need to do anything special to view/upload your vids. It comes with a (admittedly cheap) silicon case, which is a nice touch.

A note about "image stabilization", the very best ghetto solution is to attach a heavy object to the bottom of the camera. For example, get yourself a 1/4" threaded rod; stick one end in the camera, and hang some weight off the other. Obviously you'll want to hold onto the ROD/WEIGHTED OBJECT/WHATEVER and NOT the camera. You'll get almost steady-cam like performance this way.

wjhljj - Thanks for the heads up. I pulled the trigger on a Flip Mino for $60 off Amazon Goldbox a day or two ago... returning.

The model number for the RCA seems to be EZ209HD, not EX209HD. Image quality remains to be seen, but spec wise it looks like a FAR superior unit to anything being offered so far.

It boggles my mind these cheapie-video units are being sold without memory slots. Why get stuck with onboard memory when you can grab MicroSD Cards for like $10/$20 now

Dead deal. Grrrrrr.... Got my hopes up for nada. As far as why they don't include slots for sd memory cards, isn't it obvious? This way we trash the old one to get a higher memory model. Until the competition offers it and not just RCA, they won't either. Can you imagine apple having sd slots for the ipod touch?
