This Look Hot To me I pay 500 on my n96 on craigslist And i no That Nokia.com Sell oem

oooh this is very tempting!

its coming to under $500 shipped for me. dont know if Dell will have better deals with 20% coupons..

Tried to order this but Nokia has declined my credit card yet again. This happened earlier in the week, too, when I tried to preorder it at the absurd $699 price. Called my credit card company and they say everything's good on their end. The question is, will Nokia honor this price for me if the coupon expires by the time they fix this?

From the moment I was an AMEX card member in the 90's, I have always done online shopping. No problem whatsoever. However, today is the first time my AMEX got declined!!! I called customer service, which then transferred me to the fraud department. Answered several security questions (password as well as last 4 SSN), and then she asked me for the exact amount. She found the charge that was declined, and had me go back to the merchant and repeat the shopping steps to the point where I can submit the order, but to hold off on clicking submit until she tells me to go ahead. A few minutes later, she told me to go ahead and hit submit. Voila, it went through.

She said that it's likely that BrightPoint (which if you look at the final page before submitting the order, the website indicates that nokiausa.com was powered by BrightPoint) has had a lot of fraudulent activities (not by the merchant, but by card holders making claims that too many stolen cards had been used to shop at BrightPoint) in the past which automatically flagged this merchant as a potential problem. Who knows what the algorithm and logic the computers use to flag potential fraud...

So just do what I did, and the charge will go through. My total in Chicago after taxes and shipping is $493.36.

Now, incidentally, when you first preordered, it gave you an option to buy an extended 1 year warranty (on top of the 1 year included) for $19 something. I checked that box, but it never showed up in the final page. I've tried doing this with Firefox and IE, and no dice. Has anybody been able to successfully add that to the cart?

stupid avs. Yes i also had to call AMEX for them to release the transaction. Unlucky for me i'm Canadian and the AVS failed even though the USA address is an authorized alternate address. Bugger. Hopefully this is still active tm.

Im comming in at $489.76. I tried 5 zip codes from various family members and they all came up at $37.89 in tax. This includes a city sales taxes from 8.425% to a rural zip code with sales tax of 4.325% ???? But when I put in my zip code it shows $25.52 in tax. Not complaining just ODD.

I currently have the N95 8g. like it alot, love it if I could have a card slot and easily connect to internet radio. I really like the qwerty on the N97.

Since this is a pre order it says it doesn't charge the card until it ships. Any confirmation on that?

I need to clear off some of my credit balance before I tack on another half grand to keep it from affecting credit score.

release date in July?! Good thing I already paid for my fireworks.

Did you click "Continue with accessories"?

DUH!!! It's way past midnight, and I didn't even think about that..........

Thanks!

Edit: I thought about making another order with the extended warranty, but then realized that A) I don't want to waste another 15 minutes on the phone with AMEX; and B) AMEX's extended warranty benefit requires that you decline manufacturer's or retailer's extended warranty, as it only supplements the original warranty. Can someone double check me? I think I'm interpreting the terms and conditions correctly.

Shipping was $9.99 for 3-day, but overnight was only $5 more at $14.99. That's pretty sweet!

I has been use the AMEX card for only 2 years, and I had no problem to buy this phone. Lucky eh? I'm living in California, so it came up like this for me:

Subtotal: $699.00
Today's Savings: $244.65
Estimated Shipping & Handling*: $9.99
Estimated Sales Tax*: $40.63

Today's Estimated Total*: $504.97

I'm a Nokia's fan, I used their phone for so many years and I love the quality of the phone. I'm still using the N95 now, dropped alots but nothing go wrong with the phone. I love Nokia phone and looking forward to this new N series.

I bought a Black and a White + 2 Free Head Sets $975.12 tax and overnight shipping included...Hopefully they won't cancel the order, but worth a shot

I've been w/ AMEX forever.... and I ran into the whole fraudulent thing. Need to call and have them manually remove the flag before I can purchase...
Funny thing is my 2nd order got declined based on website information while the lady @ AMEX on the phone told me the charge went through and got approved...
Now, I don't know if there's an order# on the 2nd one....

Pretty good price considering my N95 8gb was $480 after CashBack on eBay

so that was what tripped up my AMEX! and i was thinking "thank God for helping me not buy this" as i had pulled the trigger couple times and it didnt go thru.

Gotta admit my real serious lack of knowledge in smartphones like this here - could someone enlighten me if the phone's functions like GPS and WiFi work without a phone plan?

Does it with WiFi kind of work like a mini netbook and can be used for e-mail and web browsing?

Does it work as a stand-alone GPS? Any way (hack?)to use non-Nokia maps? If so, which one's the best on it?

Any input or a link to some explanation will be helpful. TIA.

I don't know on the N97, but unless they change anything from all their other S60 phones (I have an N85) then:
you can use the wifi for e-mail and web browsing, even voip if you'd like.
You can turn off the cell options for GPS and have it only use its GPS unit (no data). It takes longer to get a signal but it works (you can purchase Garmin XT for it but you can also download Nokia Maps for it - it's free but they charge for extra stuff).

Before coupon, I see:
Subtotal:$699.00
Today's Savings:$174.75
Estimate Shipping and Sales Tax

SubmitToday's Total:$524.25

When I add the extra coupon:
Successfully added promotional code CARTP409N to your order.

Promotional code NOK012909R2A has been removed from your order.

Subtotal:$718.99Today's Savings:$71.90

SubmitToday's Total:$647.09

Anyone else get this or am I doing something wrong?

I must be really cheap, 'cause there is no way I would spend that amount of money on a cell phone, no matter what it does.. lol-- good deal I suppose, for those of you that want it, and can afford it these days

Does it work on SPRINT?

Looks like this might be dead. When I add the coupon it's only saving $69.90 now. Is it still working for anyone else?

The coupons had been stacking with their discounts. Maybe they fixed that.

Thanks for the great info. I asked the same thing first in the E71 thread, but got no response there. So basically the WiFi and GPS can work without any SIM card inserted, right? What kind of data do the cell options for GPS provide? Traffic and stuff?

Sprint operates on the CDMA network. The unlocked phones that you can purchase new are all going to be for GSM networks. In the USA that means AT&T and T-Mobile, but the rest of the world is all GSM. Because GSM phones all use SIM cards to store data you can always purchase a new phone, swap out your SIM card, and you're good to go. CDMA networks are locked, and unless you do a good bit of social engineering, won't allow a CDMA phone onto their network that wasn't specifically made for their network, and was sold by them. Yes, a CDMA phone from Verizon will work on Sprint for voice only quite easily if you can convince a CSR to activate that phone on the Sprint network, but data and text messaging? Those aren't going to work easily, if at all, and will require you to do a LOT of hacking in order to get them to function. They may never work correctly. The only phones that you will see sold as new and unlocked will be GSM phones, as they will work on any GSM carrier's network as long as you have a working SIM card from them.

Kind of funny... How much is a no-contract 8GB iPhone these days? I rest my case.

Looks dead!

AAAAAAHHHHHH I MISSED OUT!!!!!!

saw this last night and debated, decided to order and now its dead!!!

I got a phone call from Nokia this morning wanting to verify my order information.
Confirmed the order will be shipped by end of June or first week of July....
looks like the order won't get canceled but hoping they don't just go ahead and charge me the full price.

Aarrgghh! I'm nervous. AMEX doesn't post transactions as fast as BoA, and I still don't see charges from dinner last night. On the comments of Engadget, one guy said that his BoA statement already has a post of the amount. On top of that, I haven't received a call from Nokia like es2burn. I'm still crossing my fingers.

For those of you who had the AMEX declined, this is the email you would've gotten. Hopefully you didn't wait till the email, but rather call AMEX customer service right away like I did and resubmit the order.

StHalcyon - I used my AMEX card, too... but I didn't get that email even the first time I ordered it, it got declined. What Nokia told me today was that the transaction you saw is probably the amount they hold and not really charges. I don't see transaction on my AMEX yet either. Did you not get an order confirmation in email from Nokia?

Yeah, I do have an order confirmation from Nokia. You think that's sufficient? I'm guessing the AMEX charge is just a pre-authorization, but it'd be nice to have a peace of mind to know that Nokia won't cancel...

Got in on this deal last night, but something weird happened. I used my Chase credit card and it got decline because can't verify some information. Switched to BofA credit card and transaction went through. However, I got calls from fraud department from both Chase and BofA to verify that I placed order with "Nokia Brightpoint".

I think you'll be fine. I would probably suggest you call them to check on the order if you want to be 100% certain
I guess the reason they called me up is simply because I dont have a matching billing / shipping information...

I think the confirmation email is good enough, I think you won't see the charge in your account until they actually ship your order.

That's what I thought, but someone on another forum (engadget) mentioned that he saw a charge come through on his BoA account. That's why I started looking for a charge too.

I do see an temp authorization in my BofA account.

I tried to Preoder the N97 today but I guess they stopped discounting the phone. They still offer the free bluetooth headset but the total is $699.99.

Does anyone know if they are going to start discounting pre-orders again?

Thanks

The deep, discount was a mistake. It was only suppose to be $69 off. I delayed and missed it. Nokia rarely give a "good" discount. Your always better waiting for and authorized deal to have a discount.

Skipping 10 Messages...

i can't believe these phones are selling for $750 on eBay. i have to call nokia to ship my phone and sell it too lol
