Samsung 2333SW HDCP 1920 x 1080 wide screen monitor. Dell has it for $179.99 - 10% coupon (VBGH?K188CBWMC) = $161.99. Free Shipping. Additional sales tax in some states. I paid 6% tax for a total of $171.71. This monitor gets very good reviews.
As of 5/28 save $10 more! UPDATE: The extra discount didn't last long. Must have been a mistake. They took the monitor down but now it's back at the original deal price of $161.99. The coupon is set to expire today.
UPDATE: New 10% Off coupon code expires 6/3: PS41S3BF?8?XC3. Price is still $161.99 shipped.
UPDATE 6/5/09: Monitor is currently out of stock.
Don't forget Dell Small Business 1.5% Cash Back. Click link below and search for Item A2479675.
It is kinda funny that a lot of these forms exclude circuit city as if it were a major retailer and not just another mirror of TigerDirect. Exact opposite of the intention of the rebate.
Let me save some posts...no HDMI, but yes you can get a cheap HDMI to DVI converter. No you can't pass sound, but the monitor has no speakers so no need to pass sound to it.

Newegg and Buy has this monitor for $239 before rebate. As seen in the pictures it does have DVI and VGA.
I was just about to buy from the egg so thanks OP and no rebate to wait for. BTW, the 10% coupon expires 5/28.

I ordered this Asus last week to replace my Dell 2005fpw. Initially I thought this monitor looked washed out and then someone here on FW pointed out that my old Dell used IPS technology and that this Asus uses the cheaper TN technology. TN screens suffer from poor viewing angles, less contrast ratio and inferior color reproduction.
I must admit, I expected Asus to look much better based on the outstanding reviews I read. The monitor seems enormous compared to my 20", but it's not nearly as sharp or vibrant. Still, for less than $200 you can't help but peg this as a huge bargain. My PS3 looks great on it.
Btw- In 2000 I bought a 21" Sony Triniton monitor. Since that time I've bought three monitors and each one is less impressive than the previous. Funny trend, but I find it disappointing that 10 years have passed and we still dont have an LCD that match CRT's in terms of black levels and color reproduction.

I was going to jump in on an earlier deal but missed out and the price ballooned to 195 after tax. Already own the Samsung 2333HD, adding the 2333SW to dual screen! w00t! 161.99 + 13.57 S/H = 175.56 (NYC)

Not to be an ass, but you probably should've done more research before buying a new monitor. Newer isn't always better.
Unfortunately non-TN panels are becoming harder and harder to find these days. A lot of the great LCD screens of the past few years (like the NEC 20WMGX2, which is no longer made) were close to perfection in my opinion. Great blacks, glossy screen, colors that pop, and no input lag or ghosting. If you can find a 20WMGX2 refurb somewhere, I'd jump on that if you're looking for IPS Bliss.

That has been my complaint for years. Teh new technology has taken a step backward for the past 10 years. Nothing beats a 150 year old CRT technology. I have 25 year old CRT Tvs that work fine and still have a great picture. Everyone wanted flat TVs so they made them no matter how bad the picture is.

I think that is a stretch. CRT's continually evolved over their life too. Remember black and white was still available not 30 years ago? I am using a Samsung 2253BW and the blacks look pretty black (devoid of color) and the color reproduction seems to me excellent. And it is only 8.5 lbs and hangs from my full articulating Ergotron mount nicely. I would like to see your 22" CRT monitor weigh less than 40 lbs and hang so nicely on my wall. Your 150 year old technology is just that. It has had an uber lifetime to evolve. Look at how far LCD's have come in just a few short years. Think about how you will be drooling over them 100 years from now.

I've been waiting for a good deal on a nice LCD Monitor. I have a Samsung 204B that was a great monitor for almost three years when suddenly a thin vertical blue line appeared on the screen. Called Samsung and they are standing behind a three year warranty that is almost up and with no fuss at all. In for one, thanks.

Why because I can view a a CRT from any direction and not have the picture wash out like a LCD TV? No motion blur either like an LCD. What do the current generation of flat screen TVs dying within 2 years have to do with seeing an optometrist. Yes, you can't debate what I said so you post a stupid message.

Wait a minute. Has Samsung actually done anything with your 204B? They have the worst reputation for customer service. Their usual technique is to have you send the product in for repair at your expense. They then send the product back without repairing it. They know that after two or three times of this, you will get tired of paying to send it in only to have it come back the same way it went, ie broken. Samsung realized years ago that it does not make sense to provide warranty service. They already have your money and have nothing to gain by spending money on warranty service. They know if you never buy their products again and tell ten friends who never buy their products again, there will still be billions of people who will. So lets us know if they have actually stood behind the warranty. Also wonder why you are in for one of these if they are going to fix your 204B.

The specs of modern LCD displays far outpace the sharpness, contrast, and 'motion blur' of any CRT. I sit in front of my LCD, so the 170 degree viewing angle is not a problem. I love my LCDs and would never go back to a CRT. This all sounds like the rantings of the same crowd that love LPs, 8-track tapes, and vacuum tube amplifiers....
But in the long run, I'm sorry I said anything. Enjoy your CRT.

FYI I had a 204BW that went belly up about 6 months after I bought it (in 07). A quick call to Samsung was all it took--they sent me a brand new replacement by UPS, with a new UPS shipping label that I slapped on the box after I put my old monitor inside. Has their service really gone downhill that fast?
At any rate, good deal (though looks dead at this point). Keeping my eyes peeled for a big monitor or small TV for an HTPC build. Thanks OP!
I like LCD's for their sharpness of text, but black levels are still nowhere near CRT's. Don't believe me? Try shopping for pants online and comparing colors like black, charcoal, and dark gray.

And I am sure it has nothing to do with the camera that took the photo, or the lighting, or any of a dozen variables not related to my LCD. Not to mention you have a different LCD than me and you probably used it straight of the box without calibrating it, or at least Googling what other people are setting the dozen different display settings to.
Still seems to be alive. I just searched for it and it came up and I was able to add it to my cart. It's back to $161 (after 10% coupon) now though

Different technologies. LCDs have backlights, you can't get great blacks that way. This is why if you want great picture, smooth motion, viewing angle and blacks, you get a plasma.

Apparently Dell has some problems with the supply of this monitor. I ordered on 5/24 and was at first scheduled to receive it on 6/2. Just got an email from Dell that says there has been some delays and the new delivery date is 6/9.

I'd have to agree. I just purchased this to replace my 19" Sony trinitron which was originally purchased for over $400 (I didn't buy it, it was given to me..I can't remember ever spending more than $140 on a crt monitor in my life).
I have to turn on v-sync in games that have the option because the screen chops. It's as bad as a low-end LCD monitor. The only good thing about it is that it can do 120hz or something but at lower resolutions. The one I had before which was also a trinitron could do 120hz at high resolutions. These things are getting old and dying though. I can buy a new one on eBay still though but it's kind of a waste now that you can get a 23" screen for so cheap. The only thing I ever needed high refresh for was 3d lcd shutter glasses on an old nvidia card that I don't use any more.
Well enjoy the CRT as long as it lasts but eventually it will need to be replaced like any other electronics.

I heard that you get good blacks if you have a screen with LED backlighting which right now are kind of expensive unless you buy a Dell xps laptop.

Right, I've never had a problem with Samsung RMA it's always advanced shipment, bring the monitor to the UPS store which is 3 blocks away and then exchange it and bring the new one back to the office. I had one Samsung $399 monitor that was DOA once and did this. No problems.

Actually they had me return it at their expense so your argument sort of falls apart at the start. Time will tell what they actually do but I'm willing to send it in as many times as it takes.
As a side note, when I bought the old monitor on sale almost three years ago it was priced at $299. Makes the deal on the 23inch look real good.

FWIW. Warranty on this monitor is 1 year. Not 3 years.

Well, it's called LED panel or hopefully SED panel before I die. You could also get a plasma - Kuro series LCD is dead - period.
