ymmv if you don't follow directions properly and see the 8% icon above item page!
Mod Edit: We would not expect the merchant to be willing to pay commission to more than one partner for this purchase. In theory, "double dipping" should not work, so please choose your best deal and shop accordingly.
Mistercheap comment--if you see the 8% logo you will DEFINITELY get that as long as you haven't maxed out your live CashBack account/uses. the 8% is paid by msft/paypal. The 1% is paid by eBay which is typically why the scenario does work. at worst you won't get your 1%, but it won't affect the 8% at any time that I've followed my own instructions. YMMV and please post your own experiences with this. Remember, you'll see the 8% Cash Back instantly, the 1% FW cash takes 1-3 days to show up.
The vendors, the CashBack, the search appearance are all exactly the same as before. The only difference is that last night it was called live.com and now it's bing.com.
Thanks for the step by step double dip instructions.
I think it's funny that the only reason to use live or bing is to get CashBack. It's a terrible search engine.
Search on google for: fatwallet Staples clearance, and the first link is the official Staples clearance thread. Search bing for fatwallet Staples clearance, and a couple links down is the official Staples wiki.. on SD.
They only picked the name Bing so it could turn into a verb.
So far -- I seem to like the new UI. Travel, image and shopping searches seem very cool too. The airfare "price predictor" at http://www.bing.com/travel/ seems pretty useful for getting some good deals!

got 25% off eBags (not eBay) offer with search "crumpler"... these bags are usually exempt from coupons so it was good for me.

AFAIK, Kayak doesn't have the "price predictor". I thought Bing Travel is powered by www.FareCast.com

You are right. I read somewhere that Farecast.com is owned by MS and Bing uses it behind the scenes.
YOU CAN TYPICALLY 'DOUBLE DIP" with FW Cash Back! to get 9% back total!!
We would not expect the merchant to be willing to pay a commission to more than one partner. Since the commission is the source of our Cash Back to you, if we're not paid commission, we can't offer Cash Back.

it works because there are two seperate partner issues at work. the 8% is paid by microsoft/paypal, the 1% by eBay. (but I will add YMMV to cover any possibility)

Like sometime early decemeber/late november 2008? It's not instant for all purchases. I'm pretty sure it won't be instant if you have the item shipped to an unconfirmed address. Other than that, it's a combo of buyer and seller reputation, and one of paypal risk algos..
Very disappointed. Anxious waiting for 30% off back.

I got this when first signing into bing:
* You can request your CashBack rewards 60 days after your qualifying purchase from most store. Some stores have a longer period of 90 days, however.
* Each customer is limited to earning up to a maximum of $2,500 in CashBack savings per calendar year.
* To qualify for CashBack, you must make an eligible purchase at a participating merchant within 24 hours after clicking a CashBack listing on Bing CashBack or a CashBack advertisement on Bing. If you open the store's website in another browser window or visit another site after clicking the eligible CashBack listing or advertisement and before completing the purchase, your purchase is not eligible for CashBack.
* If you use another coupon or discount, you won't earn CashBack on that purchase.
* Purchases for resale or other business purposes are not eligible for CashBack; neither are purchases of gift certificates or gift cards.
Stores might have additional limitations, which are disclosed on the store site.

Interesting theory. Guess I have good reputation there. . This makes eBay much more attractive to me!

wish I saw this before ordering a $100 item off of eBay earlier today...

Also, since PP and eBay integrated, it is not just eBay rep (pos feedback) but your paypal reputation and account history and longevity. New accounts might not get instant CB as easily.. just because PP flags those transactions as higher risks and limits the available funding sources, etc.
And you can get instant CB on giftcards.. before anyone asks.. (I have, many people have.) I dont think the item purchased has anything to do with the risk algo, but the purchase price probably does.
