I just got this offer in the mail -- and could not pass it up. Called my father and he ordered as well (he uses a lot of olive oil). There regular price is $59.99 -- that is probably too high, but for half price this is a great price. I was charged $29.99 no tax free shipping UPS Ground.

What you get is:

6 - 1/2 liter bottles of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 - Ceramic decanter
1 - Apron and tea towel

LINK
The link says it needs an origin code but they do provide a generic code right there on the order page in case you do not have one.

I am not excited about the apron/towel but the oil and decanter seems good at this price. If you think this is a good offer -- feel free to give me green... Have been a long time member of Fatwallet, but I believe this is one of my first original posts rather than contribution to existing deals...

Good deal. I hate paying the prices for olive oil in the store, this makes it easier.

Great price! Thanks OP!

I supplement with olive oil and drink ti by the tablespoon. Does this one have a strong flavor like the other EVOOs or is it relatively tasteless? Thanks!

Excellent deal! Just ordered one!

Got some for the wife, she uses olive oil for everything

I am glad everyone seems to like this deal, I thought it was pretty damn good and immediately jumped.... I wonder what mailing list I made that had me getting this in the mail?

I also cross posted at SD and it wasn't received quite as well there - screw them guys anyways ) As you can tell by my posting count here (vs 2 posts there) FW is where my heart is...

Just an FYI here: a 3L bottle of extra virgin olive oil is ~$16 at Sam's Club. Go to SamsClub.com and check for "olive oil". Of course, it's good only for Sams Club members.

Thanks for your info.. I do not have a Sam's Club membership, but I wonder how the qualities of the two brands compare. I am guessing this offer is an intro to get you hooked to their highly overpriced stuff. I thought for sure this was "on approval" until I read all the fine print and saw it wasn't... I definately gave you green for your research though...

The other thing about the Sam's Club oil is that you are stuck with one big bottle. Oil doesn't stay fresh all that long once it is opened unless you refrigerate it and unfortunately olive oil turns to a solid when cold. Quality is also a factor, the the good stuff is much better than what they sell at Sam's or Costco in the large containers. The 1 liter estate bottles from Costco are actually pretty good but I think they are about $10 each anyway which is comparable to this price. For this price, and considering the free extras, I'm willing to give it a shot. Thanks surfsidebeach!

If you are looking for good quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil; I always get mine from Boscoli. Although not as cheap as OP's, the price is great for the quality of the product. Their Olive Salad is incredible also!

I've never tasted an XV olive oil that didn't have a strong, freshly crushed olive flavor. There is a problem with identifying the country of origin with many Italian olive oils. If the label say "packed in Italy" then it's olives sure weren't grown there. Even "produced in Italy" doesn't mean much. The Italians produce about twice as much olive oil as they should based on the total amount of olives grown...so the just buy them from Spain, Morocco, Turkey, etc. and crush them for sale as "Italian".
This looks like a great deal but I'll stick with my local (NYC) sources for 100% Sicilian XVOO @ $10/liter.
Last summer I had friends over for dinner and as one course I had French bread with a tasting of 6 different XVOOs. A very expensive Tuscan single varietal, a Chilean, a Moroccan, a Baena/Spanish, a Greek and a Turkish. The surprising nearly unanimous winner was the Moroccan.
If you really want a soft flavor you'll be happier with the Light Olive Oils. The XVOO should be saved for salads and dipping.

Thanks OP!

The "throat tickle" is addressed in the FAQ

The Smart

I am guessing that the term "smart" was a translator error.

I got it today. Can tell you that this oil is much better than 3L bottle XVOO I usually buy in Costco for about $26. It has great smell and taste even better. What is most important - it's not bitter at all. I've try many XVOO before, even super expancive Moroccan and I would rate it with this point system "X" out of "10".
Morrocan - 10
Costco - 6
Olio Carli - 8,5 or even 9

Got one set. Thanks!

thanks op, just jumped on the deal. hope the wife likes it since didnt get a chance to talk to her about it first.

i noticed its ups delivery. i hope they dont do the usual "chuck and run" with these bottles -- ups has taken to ringing the doorbell, tossing the package over the gate, and running back to their van all within 5 seconds.

Sounds good, I'll try it
Thanks OP

Costco's 2L bottle is $7.99 or $8.99, I forget which. But it's also an excellent deal. They used to have a 1.5L of organic, really high quality stuff for $13 that had a great taste. The cheaper, 2L bottle is pretty mellow tasting. It's great for cooking, although I'd supplement a cheaper oil like this with a higher quality oil for use with bread dipping, salad dressing, etc. Although, to back up a second, calling this a "cheaper" oil is a misnomer, because it's still better than most of the stuff you get at the supermarket and it's a lot cheaper.

To the guy who supplements with Olive Oil, I do this as well (along with half a lemon). These cheap oils are just fine for this.

Anyone know when this was harvested?

Giving it a go

mine was delivered today

don't go thru a lot of EVO, but sounds like a deal.

is there an exp date on these? thnx

Yes. It expires March, 2011.

I already received mine this afternoon. All seems pretty good -- although I have not tried the olive oil yet. The freebies are good quality.... Now I need to get a bargain on some red wine vinegar to make some red wine vinaigrette...

Just ordered mine. Thanks OP!

Be sure to check the box before you accept/open. Had a bottle bust in mine, too bad the wife didnt see the stain on the bottom before she opened the box. Also my first time ordering from them last year had the same issue. Fedex shipped it back b4 it even got to me. The second box was fine. Just call my bro, same thing happened to him w/ his order yest. Excellent stuff though in fact im ordering another today.
Thanks OP

I just received mine via UPS. Outside of box pretty beat up but insides intact. The oil is fairly smooth for extra virgin. Expiration date March 31,2011. Only bummer is that the cruet has no cork/spigot. Just a wide opening.

got mine yesterday. was a little worried since ups delivered it, and they are infamous for the "chuck and run". luckily, no busted bottles.

My decanter had a cork/spigot -- if that is what you are talking about... they might've forgot yours....

Got mines, can't wait to use it. I too received the cork spigot with my order.
Thanks OP

No word about the quality of this product? Cold pressed? Harvest season or off kilt? Definite pass.

mine came with an apron... no kilt

FlatSix said: No word about the quality of this product? Cold pressed? Harvest season or off kilt? Definite pass.

FAQ says it's cold pressed and that expiry date is 23 months after bottling...others have posted the date on their shipments. Thanks for posting, OP!

I still haven't received mine yet. Ordered on the 19th. For the ones that already got their packages...how long did shipping take?

EDIT
Called in today, they are backordered and waiting on a shipment from Italy. The support lady says 4-6 weeks.

Haven't gotten mine yet either - forgot about it until i saw the CC charge...

Update>found the ups email, tracking shows damaged in transit and returned to sender. Just emailed them to find out if they are resending or refunding.

Also keep in mind that olive oil goes from fresh to not so fresh within a month, once you hit two months you are looking at some olive oil that is starting to taste a bit on the stale side. 3L is a effin crap ton to use before it goes stale for normal sized (non italian) family. This is the only reason that I do not buy my olive oil at costco (which has better olive oil then sams club BTW, at least aroud here in NJ)

Nice deal, how is the quality?

FYI TraderJoes has some quite delicious olive oil at insanely reasonable prices. You are talking about 8$ a liter for some really good stuff.

Mine's still backorder, anyone receive theirs lately?

I ordered on June 24th and still haven't gotten it. Plus, no word from Olio Carli. Hoping it is indeed backordered.
