"Deal" is a word referring to things that cost significantly less than they otherwise would. So for example, if a product is offered for $130 but has not recently been available for anything close to that price, we would call it a "deal." I hope this helps.
Amazon typically drops down to this price every month or so. I bought one in Feb and have been extremely pleased w/ it.
Be warned, HD is very resource intensive and requires adequate CPU horsepower and memory to keep up with the movies this unit takes. That said, you may have to change the format e.g. divx; to view your movies at a different resolution/framerate.
...also, I should mention I own this camera and LOVE it. Takes excellent quality video even just on HD (the medium quality setting)! I got it last time when it was 229.99 -100 IS @ Am@zon a few months ago.

You never know. Sometimes Amazon has a "gold box" sale price one day, then the next week that becomes the regular price. This camera model came out last fall, so a replacement will probably come out later this year. I would not be surprised if Amazon is closing out the old model to make room for the new product.
I bought it a while ago. It's awesome. Of course you can't compare it to a real camcorder with real lens. But the video looks great 720p on my 40" lcd screen. Another thing that I like is how good it adjust the exposure when I switch from bright light to dark area. And the angle is pretty wide, makes you feel like you are a part of the story when you watch the video.
I think this one is much better. I have a Sony miniDV and this one outperforms the Sony MiniDV. The only drawback is this one does not have any optical zoom.
