Don't want to derail this posting. FAR software notification is appreciated. Thanks OP. My post about Summitsoft was more a curiosity thing. Here is what was further stated: "What happened when Google visited this site? Of the 9 pages we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 3 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent. The last time Google visited this site was on 2009-06-18, and the last time suspicious content was found on this site was on 2009-06-17. Malicious software is hosted on 1 domain(s), including rmi.tw/. 1 domain(s) appear to be functioning as intermediaries for distributing malware to visitors of this site, including molo.tw/. This site was hosted on 1 network(s) including AS16557 (COLOSOLUTIONS). Has this site acted as an intermediary resulting in further distribution of malware? Over the past 90 days, summitsoftcorp.com/products/logo-design-studio-pro appeared to function as an intermediary for the infection of 1 site(s) including onenetworkdirect.net/. Has this site hosted malware? Yes, this site has hosted malicious software over the past 90 days. It infected 1 domain(s), including onenetworkdirect.net/. How did this happen? In some cases, third parties can add malicious code to legitimate sites, which would cause us to show the warning message." |

I don't know if the problem is Panda or rebate house but it took FIVE MONTHS for me to get my first (and last) Panda rebates on software purchased at OD. |

I've had trouble with AVG rebates in the past six months. They never receive one rebate, intentional stalling, huge hassle to get it resubmitted. YMMV. |

I don't get it. I have a few questions. Can I buy the software and use BOTH the RETAIL REBATE AND the UPGRADE REBATE??? It says something about the Upgrade Rebate needing to apply to a product that is 30 days old. So if I fill them both out at the same time don't they reject the Upgrade Rebate??? pls don't kill me if I'm missing something. Hoping to find out soon; OfficeDepot opens in a few minutes. |

Go back and re-read and and then if you still think it's confusing, tell us the exact quote where you think it says that. |

Upgrade rebates generally require you to have either a prior version of the manufacturer's or a competitor's product. When a rebate above has a 30 day requirement, the rebate has to be mailed-in within 30 days of purchase. The 30 day requirement does not refer to the purchase date of the upgraded from software. |

Go back and re-read and and then if you still think it's confusing, tell us the exact quote where you think it says that. The wording in the PDF file for Mcaffee is: "30 days proof of previous ownership*" Does that mean you have to prove you owned the original version for a min of 30 days? Maybe not, maybe it means you have to get the rebate in within 30 days, but the last thing I want to do is be denied Cash Back on software that I would not have otherwise wanted to spend that kind of money on. So lets get this straight. For example I buy 1 McAffey(sp) software and simply send in both retail and upgrade rebate forms? or do I have to be tricky and buy 1 McAffey(sp) and 1 Norton, and send the norton CD to McAffey to get the upgrade rebate, and the Mcaffey CD to Norton (criss cross) ??
someone please answer me, I'd like to act fast, and also I'd think there are others reading the thread that an answer would clear up things. |

In the pdf provided by me, the op, the "30 days" is under the column "Submit" while the "proof of previous ownership" is under the "Proofs and/or Restrictions" column Edit: I added some vertical bars to the table in the pdf file in the OP. So now that the table is better defined, it should be clear there is no 30 day requirement for the proof of previous ownership. For those without existing proof of previous ownership, criss-crossing the proofs would work. |

icecow said:The wording in the PDF file for Mcaffee is:
"30 days proof of previous ownership*"When in doubt use common sense. How could they require you to own the previous software for 30 days when the rebate does not ask you to send a receipt from the previous version? And the only place I find "30 days" in the rebate form PDF file is "Rebate submission must be postmarked within 30 days of purchase date printed on the customer receipt.". I don't know what you're talking about. Oh, I see you were confused by the PDF file that the OP created and uploaded. I don't really understand why you wouldn't just look at the rebate form if you had questions. That is where the official details are. Can I assume you've never done a rebate before? And if you have, do you have a bad track record with rebates being rejected because you don't understand the wording on the forms? |
