got my g10 for around 1700 including tax after instant rebates in store at Sears about 1.5 months ago. Good deal otherwise if you need a surround system.
I have had a few plasmas over the past 5 years and this g10 panel is the best so far!
Just picked up this TV from OneCall for 1460 shipped, also had a rebate for the price of a Lumix Camera (I believe some places let you get a blu-ray player). Great TV, viewing angles are fantastic. Would be nice to have an extra input though (I output from an HTPC via DVI-HDMI cable, but need to steal one of the component audio inputs for audio). Picture quality is great. Can't say whether the sound system is worth an extra 500 bucks.

this is a sweet deal.... I am going to cancel my Amazon order for the 54 inch g10 and free blue ray for 1800 for this deal, since I am looking for a surround sound too.
sweet deal op!
edit
I am doing more research into this, but this thing has not hdmi inputs? I can't connect anything else to this receiver? my xbox 360? comcast digital receiver?
for some reason. i think plasma is not worth it. your electricity bill will be high.

where do get the info on the electricity usage. According to Consumer Reports the 50 inch version used $49 per year of electricity for the average user.

In the Dec. 08 issue of Consumer Reports, it stated that a 50" Plasma costs about $125/yr to run and 52" LCD about $80. This is with 8 hours/day usage. My guess is that these figures were based on 2008 models. Most 2009 models have made some advances in power savinigs, particularly Plasmas (I believe) so the gap may have closed. Not sure about you folks, but 8 hrs is more than I use.

You have had a few plasmas over the past 5 years?! Did the others not last more than 5 years?
still a good deal..but I am passing. Not liking the fact that u can only connect one aux to the surround sound.

im just a technology geek that wants the newer/est thing. All my panels are still serving duty in other households of family and friends.

L.O.L. they even have it in a 46" & 50" two-pack!
i see $1725 for the Panasonic TC-P54G10 Plasma TV set at OneCall...are u referring to the Panasonic TC-P50G10 Plasma TV at $1398?
Here is an idea they thought of at SD. When you put both in cart, the TV gets adjusted from 1799 and takes off $500 to make it $1299. After you pick them up, get a gift receipt and return the surround sound for the full $700. You just got a 54" G10 for $1299!

edit.....
damn it .....they aren't in stock....or TV is in stock and surround sound isn't....sigh...don;t know if I should risk it. Think Sears will give the refund for the surround sound only?

If the receipt shows that the surround sound is $700, then yes it will work for sure. We just need someone to pull the trigger.
If the Sears goes through, let me know before sat so I can pull! Also, what was your exact total? Did you do store pickup or ship? And by any chance, did you use Sears card to get additional 10% or 18 months no interest?
Has anyone ever tried to get no interest and then submit the 10% off? because it says "or" but I wanted to see if anyone ever got both

alight. I just picked up my TV from Sears for 1377. While picking it up I was able to cancel the 7.1 surround sound and was refunded 741.99
So, yes I was able to get the TV for 1377. This deal is SMOKIN!!!
I think it worked for me because the store I ordered it from had the TV in stock, but not the surround sound so they ended up doing two separate tickets for me, since I picked up the TV first. Then when I got there I just told them that I order the surround sound at another store and I wanted to cancel it there.
YMMV

There's an additional 5% off for the "mid-day madness" which ends at 4PM CDT. This brings the combo to $1875 + tax. And don't forget FatCash of 2%.
Holy COW! Good sh#! So you ordered it online, did store pick up, took the tv then went to the register after with your .com receipt and canceled it? Did they re-ring you for the TV?

i'm in for one... I picked a store w/ the TV in stock and the Surround sound available within 10 days.... Hopefully I can do the cancellation there or come back the next day and cancel it!

Sears sent me a ready to pick up reciept. which had the tv on it only.
the HTIB was on the old one which I did not bring. I asked the guy to delivered my TV to cancel my HTIB order because another store had it in stock and I was going to pick it up there. The guy took my credit card and phone number and pulled up my HTIB order in the system and canceled it and refunded the money.

Don't want to rain on anyone's parade but... ....couldn't Sears very easily check to see if you returned the HTIB since you did use your credit card...and then bill you for the whole amount of the tv since you violated the terms of the deal? I'd rather wait for a legitimate deal.

They can't bill you extra without your permission. Once you buy it and walk out of the store the deal is etched in stone.
Thank you for shopping at Sears.com. Unfortunately, the Mon Jun 29 2009 23:32:03 GMT-0400 (Eastern Daylight Time) store was unable to fulfill your order **** / salescheck ******. As a result, your order was cancelled. Please accept our apology for this inconvenience.

For some reason, I think you have no idea what you are talking about. This is widely felt to be the best TV of the year so far, period. Plasma remains superior to LCD for picture quality, and now that the expensive Pioneers are done being made this is the best TV you can buy--even more so when cost/performance is considered. If a small difference in electric bills is your biggest reason for a negative comment on this deal, you probably shouldn't be in the market for a TV at all.

I understand your frustration, but I think some folks just haven't found out about the reduced power consumption of the latest panny Neo-PDP plasmas. I read somewhere(hdguru?) the 50" G10 uses about 200-230 watts per hour depending on optimal settings. While that's still more than most 52" LCD(150w) uses, it's really not that much more, we're talking $30 to $60 per year energy costs for the new pannys versus $25 to $45 per year for the LCDs....big freakin deal.

Ya, I don't think they are allowed to bill you extra without informing you. I ran into this when I worked at circuit city. A guy bought a pair of speakers, the associate did not know that the box has the pair in it. So he got 2 boxes (2 pairs) for the price of one. Then circuit city told the gentleman to bring back one box so we can bill you for it but the guy refused and kept both and CC couldn't do anything.

Anyone else successful in returning the surround sound system (either in person or through mail)? Just curious the best approach to take to do it. THanks!
