Even though it is OOS now, Crutchfield does allow you to reserve this item at that price and will honor that price when it comes into stock again. Because this is such an excellent price, this is the model I want, and I am willing to wait awhile for it, I reserved one. The $20 off of $100 did work, free shipping, and no tax in FL. If I see it cheaper or change my mind and decide not to get it before it ships, I can cancel the order. Crutchfield was not able to tell me exactly when it will be in stock again, but since I'm not in a huge hurry, I can give them some time and see. Thanks, OP.
even if it has 2009 maps, you will be able to upgrade for free. Both tomtom and Garmin give you the latest map guarantee. Only bad thing with garmin is, it does not give you the latest software. But Garmin has no plans to release any any new software. jaredb03 said: does this gps have the 2009 or 2010 Maps?

There are four steps before you confirm to buy this item. When do you need to enter the code to get $20 off?

First step. When you add it to your cart, look at the bottom of page in the middle...."Special Offers and Catalog Code"

I agree.. Garmin software is only meant for ppl who don't really do anything with their GPS. Most of the road, Garmin don't display their name. It seem the detail view is only for the 2D, not the 3D.
BTW, for those who looking for a gps with Traffic report thing... don't. It's not worth the $. The traffic is incorrect most of the time (from what i've experienced personally).

My 750 displays the names in 3D mode, you just need to zoom in to where the screen would otherwise be completely cluttered. I see road names with at least 1/4-1/2 mile showing ahead on the screen.
Backorder one when it let you. Unfortunately, it now shows DISCONTINUED. Who knows whether they're going to fill the backorders or just cancel everything.
Green for you OP. I placed an order hoping to get one from backorder, but it appears Crutchfield is cancelling those orders as well. Just received the following email:

Guys watch your inboxes! I *just* got this and was able to reinstate my order at the original price (including the coupon)! I had to call in though. YMMV with it:
Dear Jeremy,
Last week we sent you an email explaining that we would be unable to fulfill your order for the Garmin nuvi 255W.
Over the past few days we were able to obtain a limited supply of the 255W, and we would like to extend the opportunity to purchase a unit at the price you were originally quoted. The units have been set aside for affected customers, and are not available on the website at this time. If you would like to place an order, please call us at 1-800-955-3000, we expect to begin shipping these units in about 3 - 4 weeks.
Thank you again for your understanding. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Just got the same message. Looks like they're making good for those of us who got in in time.

I just got my email from Crutchfield also. Re-ordered and CSR said shipping out tomorrow. I deleted the emails Crutchfield sent me about the cancellation, CSR looked me up on their system and put the order back on. He just needed my cc info again. $129.99 shipped.
Ha ha....too bad I'm now thinking about my original impulse purchase! Hmm....

Just FYI guys, but the unit does NOT come with the MSN Traffic GDB 55 receiver. Sort of a bummer... my StreetPilot C550 came with the FM receiver and it's great. I have mixed feelings about this 255W after using it a bit. The response just seems sluggish compared to the C550. I told my dad I'd give him my old Streetpilot, but now I'm thinking about just giving him the Nuvi. Don't get me wrong - it's a nice unit, but I just prefer the StreetPilot... maybe I've just gotten too used to the StreetPilot.
