Comes in Nickel and Oil bronze. The cheapest remote itself costs $25.
Few reported that that Lowes printing $10 off $50 coupon at the bottom of receipts. Of course, YMMV on the coupon. Try buying something cheap like a screw or a nail, if it prints, use that cpn to buy this fan - Final : $49 + tax.
Else, buy 24 pk Gatorades (thanks flobb) first that has a $10 off $50 coupon in it. Use that cpn to buy this fan - Final : Free 24pk Gatorade and Fan for $59+tax.
I have two of these that I installed 3 years ago. They are decent looking ceiling fans for the price. I've had people remark that they are nice. Of course they were probably just being polite, but they could have remarked about any of the other items in that room.
So, nothing spectacular, but for $60 it's unlikely you'll find anything better.
Note: if you plan to use CFL's with this, by-pass the dimmer control box when hooking up the light.
if nothing else, see if they have the special marked gatorade with 10off50 inside. buy it first, open and go back in to buy other stuff. you end up with free 20pk gatorade.
These aren't online for some reason. Does anyone have a picture of the oil bronze? I really like the look of these fans, but am not sure it'll match the rest of my plain/modern looking house. I would really like to get rid of my run-of-the-mill brass fan with the 4 bell-shaped glass shades, like you see everywhere. About like this one. Kinda cheapy looking (and I don't need 4 bulbs wasting electricity).
Does anyone know if the mover coupon will work?

i want to replace my existing light with this one in my bedroom, how hard is it to install? does it need to run any wires from the main box or just disconnect the old ones n then connect the new ones?

If you don't know, then you better hire an electrician!

Wiring is usually easy, its best if you have a ground wire. The important part is if the electrical box is properly mounted so it can handle the extra weight of the fan. I have had to get in the attic to enstall a brace to anchor the box to.
What is the deal with the gatorade coupon?? Is it in the ad or are you saying buy it to see if the coupon prints out like any purchase?? TIA
typically you would have a common negative & 2 positives one of which is not used to make the connection to the light bulb. For the fan one positive is for running the fan & the other for the light & the negavtive is the common wire.
You need to make sure the electrical box is screwed into a stud and secured. Usually it is good practice to do so, but in some installations, they literally put the box directly on drywall without securing it first. If it is not secured, then you will need to follow some DIY instructions for making an electrical box for a fan.
True -- that's a potential issue. The last thing you want is the weight/motion of the fan cracking the sheetrock and falling -- particularly if it's over one's head or bed!
If you're not sure, might be good to take a studfinder up to the ceiling and see if it's over/adjacent to the hole. Can usually also just knock on the sheetrock and tell from the pitch of the sound where the stud is.
Confirmed here in nc...52.xx otd. Bought 2.00 item...printed 10 off 50 on receipt selfcheckout scanned and everything smokin deal...the remote is usually 30 thanks op

$250 to install a $50 fan SLICK!!!
not
Better than burning your house down, falling through your attic floor, electrocuting yourself or having a ceiling fan fall on your head.

Better than burning your house down, falling through your attic floor, electrocuting yourself or having a ceiling fan fall on your head. i'v just installed a 42" plasma from recent Sears deal, the wall mount from monoprice is heavy n the tv is much more heavier, i guest it's about 100lbs for both, i run all the cables & wires inside the wall, i had never though that i could do it but i did

MaxRC, could you elaborate on how to by-pass the dimmer control box? I have the same ceiling fan from a few years ago. If I try using CFL's they flicker, so I have to use a regular bulb.

Would you mind posting the reverse blade color when you open it up? Am hoping for white.
namcongtu said: i want to replace my existing light with this one in my bedroom, how hard is it to install? does it need to run any wires from the main box or just disconnect the old ones n then connect the new ones?As other posts have already noted -- it is important to make sure that the electrical box can support a fan. I would take the existing light out and do some investigating before purchase -- if your current box is mounted to a ceiling joist (in which case you only need to upgrade the box, most fan box upgrades include the necessary ~3" wood screws for this), if your existing box is not secure you can maybe purchase the fan box w/ the spreader bars. The fan boxes are nearly always located near the fans.
As to the wiring, often there is an unswitched supply wire feeding the light. I use these to connect the fan to (so that it can run independent of the light) and connect the wires from the existing light to the fan light. If you do some googling ("install+ceiling+fan+tutorial") you can find some video/pics that give a better picture.
Wait, aside from the fan deal, are we saying that Lowes is doing that deal where, whenever you make a purchase, a 10 off 50 is printing out? That is hotter than this fan deal.
I'll do as I did before, and go buy outlet covers, one at a time, to get the coupons.
That's hot.
Then, might pick up a couple of these fans at 50 bucks each with the coupon.
Is that confirmed with any purchase or is there a minimum to get the coupon?

There are dimming CFL's available but they cost about 12 bucks each. So i would agree with you on the above. else use incandescent with an electronic dimmer.

You will lose all light control from the remote, however. The lights will turn on/off based on the wall switch, and the pull string that drops down from the light.

I bought a pencil for $.19 and the coupon printed. I then bought 5 cases gatoraid and a filler for $40 and got 6 10off50 coupons. The receipt coupons last until the 12th or 14th I think but the gatoraid coupons last until 10/31.
We bought it when it was $79, in silver nickel. The reverse color on the blade is black (the regular color is light wood). I remember there was also a white finish fan, with wood blades, where the reverse was white. I don't remember for the rubbed bronze what the reverse was though.
For those contemplating changing out the bulbs, the the three bulbs used in the light kit are the small base candelabra type.
One other note for those of you planning on using the remote. If you do, you lose the capability to have separate switches for light and fan, as the remote ties them together. So if you need separate switches, then you don't have the remote capability (or you only use the remote for fan or light, not both).

Hi HaxRC, Thanks for the info. I'd rather keep the remote capability, so I guess I'll just stick with the regular bulb

If you don't know, then you better hire an electrician! My brother-in-law did it himself. It took him half a day and then they had to repaint the ceiling from the smoke damage.
The first one I did took an hour. The ones after that took about 30 minutes.

I bought a $10 gift card to get the $10 off $50 coupon. Then used the coupon and gift card on the fan.
FYI, you can get E12 to E26 adapters, so you can use regular bulbs. Text, Text, etc. Wonder if regular bulbs would fit in the glass? Maybe if you just used 2 bulbs instead of 3, and bent the sockets in a little?

The peoples' republic of Fairfax County, VA. I'm not kidding.
