Personally, I would not bother with an extended warranty. Nikon products are very reliable.

agree. have several friends who've got the D40/60's and no probs so far. Nikons are pretty reliable

Got mine two days ago. I think I ordered it on Saturday, they shipped it out of NY and I'm on the east coast so anything out of NY basically comes to me the next day even though they shipped it ground. Had 2 pictures on the shutter count. Only weird thing was that the language was set to Spanish so it took a few seconds to figure out how to change it back.

May not be how many times the shutter has been actuated if Nikon did a reset for "file no sequence", then put it back to "on".
