Also, I couldn't get a rebate because I had upgraded in September. The phone store folks are the reason I stay with Sprint because they will always work with you. They gave me the phone (Pre) for $299, the told me to call and ask for someone in retention and complain about no rebate. They didn't want to work with me, but I told them that, as a Sprint Premier(long-time) customer, I had received at least $800.00 in service credits over the years and would have no problem dumping them, paying the $400.00 and going to Verizon. Worked like a charm. I got $112 and change as a credit, which meant when I took the Pre back for the Crackberry, I kept the credit, got $162.00 refunded to my credit card for the switch and, having forgotten to turn in my old phone the first time, got a $50.00 credit for that. Pretty sweet for a company with a bad customer service reputation!

Source? The phone wasn't revealed until the beginning of the calendar year.

Sprint techs at the store. They've been getting a lot of heat in the last week about these issues. My tech said it and noted it was not for public consumption. But you know what they say about "How do you keep a secret with 3 people?"... Please feel free to spend your $199. You have 30 days to return the product, if you buy it from Sprint, no questions asked. I'll bet 3 weeks is all you need, and if you love it, good for you! That's what makes our country great, freedom of choice.

Yes and no. My former colleague who was displaced a year ago called last week. It was a company-specific phone number. The CSR signed him up with the 20% discount, no proof required. I believe the discount pretty much stay in the system even when you change employment. Probably too much of a hassle for Sprint to go back and verify on a regular basis.

Good for him. They dropped mine and I didn't notice for a few months. I had to go back to HR for the "code". I guess it helps if the CSR isn't having a "bad hair day". Too many at Sprint do.

Mine went back within 4 days. I was terrified of a cracked screen, disappointed with the pitiful battery life, the reception was terrible, you could fry an egg on it, the rubberized keys were akward, and I had dead pixles and splotches on my screen.

I am back to my BB Bold and could not be happier. My Bold does everything the pre did and then some.

See www.treocentral.com for more info. Best of luck for those who get this device. The hardware is horrible but WebOS is pretty cool. I give it two revisions before I jump.
