When I brought my new " free" toy home yesterday I was so proud. Then at night it was too bright for our bedroom so the wifey told me that either the gadget or she goes downstairs because she couldn't sleep. I compromised and me and my new toy went downstairs and I now have it in the family room.
According to the manuals on the web site, the "newer" models have a brightness setting on the back, high, low and off. I'm thinking I need to swap the two I haven't opened.
There are other seemingly positive changes too, like showing the internal temp. You can tell if you have the old one by looking at your manual and the page that shows the temperature ranges and colors, "70s" is repeated twice and "70s" is where "80s" should be. So can anyone confirm that the "C" models (ones with chrome buttons) are the ones with the brightness setting and indoor temp display? I found 5-day "CX" models at my store and they do not appear to have these features despite the manual not repeating the "70s" twice as alluded to above. The only thing it mentions about the backlight in my manual is that it only works with the AC adapter. Edit - I see, reading back over the entire post, the "newer" models are determined by a different model number i.e. 950015C vs. 950005C? Model number 950015C would include these newer features but not be eligible for the rebate - correct? |

turls88 said:Yes, a bunch of mine had rebate forms taped. I haven't noticed that before, and seems to be unusual considering clearance varies store by store. Almost like they had a corporate directive to get these out the door for good or something. At our local store I watched a middle aged woman walk up to the display at about 2 PM, put her purse down, and she proceeded to tape the small rebate forms to each package. She did not have a store shirt or name tag on. When she was done taping all 25 units she left. ???? Maybe she is the mystery woman or Good Fairy, that also goes around and puts a quarter into expired parking meters? BTW Harrisurrg, PA East store had 5 of the 95000C models and she missed tagging them, but a price scan confirmed they were $50.00. I bought 2 of the CX model as the Lit# on the back of the package was newer than the C model. CX model was 98-1177/07-08 and I believe the C model was several months "older". I figured that was a "clue". Hey, it works! Took about 30 minutes to get the final signal fix and is telling me it is "partly sunny and nice" here. Friendly little box. |

WOW, these were $20 ea at my store on clearance this afternoon. And there were about 15 on the shelf. UPC matched rebate form. They had both C and CX models on the shelf. This should be front page. |

Since the new one has a different type of antenna, has anyone noticed a difference in the reception between the two? |

Seems like a good antenna to me. Getting 3 bars on its signal strength meter, and we are far from the wx service transmitter... i.e., we often have trouble getting signals at our house in Boise area. What a deal if you can get these on clearance. |

I just came back from the New Castle Indiana WalMart. They had 6 of the $50 ones and 5 of the $75 ones. They are in the hardware section. Thanks OP |

OK, we got two confirmations of <$50 price.. how widespread is this? I'm tempted to go back to do an updated price check. |

Just talked to a Bushnell rep, she thinks that the website is incorrect and the rebate is for both 5 and 7 day. She could not bring up the rebate (of course, PC trouble) but she said that if the rebate does not specifically say that it must be different SKUs, then we could purchase three identical units and get the $150...however, she did say that she has NEVER seen anything more than ONE rebate per household. Needless to say, going to call again in an hour. -------------------------------------------------------- Just noticed this text on the Bushnell website...
Rebate good on 950005CX and 950005C models only. http://www.bushnell.com/weather/ See bottom right hand side...might not be true, but there it is. Also wondering if the limit three per household also applies to unique SKUs, meaning you cannot buy three of the same item and get the rebate? |

Official WalMart policy is that you can get price adjustment within a week. But you can always buy the new one if price is lower and return with old receipt. |

Ok, sorry to spread the misinformation about the C and CX differences. The new manual may show all the extra buttons and differences, but I found out one of the ones I originally bought was the newer one, and only the differences noted previously in the thread by the person that called Bushnell seems to be correct. I haven't taken it out of the package yet to verify, but I could tell there were no extra buttons. I went back and got a 7 day one for $75 (it was the only one, and I don't remember seeing it last time but I could have missed it). It was the older version. I'm interested to know if there is any difference between the antennas on the new and old as well, so I'll probably return one of the old ones, keep 2 of the 5 day (one "old", one "new") and the 7 day one I just got, and end up paying about $30 for 3 decent little gadgets AR. As far as the lady taping the rebate forms that didn't seem to be a Wal-Mart employee, that makes perfect sense, she probably works for whatever distributor sold these to Wal-Mart, and they get incentive for clearing product. |

Newer Model #s: 950013C / 950015C / 950017C I think both the "C" and "CX"s are "old" and maybe the manuals are the same, and only the ones you refer to have the new features. I do not actually have any with those model numbers in store to verify. |

Went back today to see if the price had dropped to $20 as some have been reporting, but still $50 in Trexlertown,Pa. On Wednesday there were 15 left, now there are 4 left. On a somewhat unrelated note, I did come across a Magnavox Blu-ray player for $98 that was $128 the other day. Magnavox $98 Blu-Ray player at Wal-Mart |

Lots left in Springfield, MO. All with taped rebates. Bought two, both work great. Wish they had a dimmer button like the new models. Thanks. |

Tons (probably 15-20) also left in Eden Prairie, MN. Also had taped rebates. There were two different aisles that had them..near the light bulbs, and another near (of all things) paint. |
