Gifts without UPCs? That also depends on WHO you give the item to. A close friend or relative should know you by now-LOL!! And probably doesn't care. You could always remove the item, neatly clip whatever packaging remains after the UPC slaughter and then put everything in a Ziploc bag, seal it and hand that as your gift!

The 'c' model and the 'cx' models I bought a few minutes ago both had an ac adapter included and both use 4 batteries.
I wonder what this difference is. The 'cx' model has a blue display decal and the 'c' model has a green display sticker.
I wish I could have found the 7-day model at my store. Only 5-day models. Lots of them on clearance in hardware section where the thermometers are located.

CRKev said:OK, I called Bushnell and asked about the CX and C models, they said there really is no diiference except for the antenna stub (on the C) and the location buttons are silver on the C model. Operationally, there is no difference according to them. Also, the signal for the weather forcast is sent over the pager system, so if your pager worked in the past, this should work (again, according to Bushnell).

Kev

Thanks Kev for finding out the difference. I wonder if the one with the antenna stub (the 'c' model') would have better reception? I actually like the looks of 'c' model more, even with the small stub. I like the chrome nameplate and chrome location buttons.

I know this is probably a dumb question, but with a $50 rebate on an item I don't really know why I needed in the first place I wanted to be sure. Anyway, when it says you need "a copy of your sales receipt," does that mean that I can copy it? Because if the rebate doesn't come then I am bringing this thing back to Wal-Mart, I don't want to pay $50 for it. But for $4 ($3.50 +$0.44+ paper/ink) I'll be happy with it.

Dont forget time & gas (unless you walked), and the fact you actually had to go inside a WalMart!!

Since you will be sending in the UPC to rebate company, you wont be able to return it to WalMart without the UPC.

The way I read it, a copy of your sales receipt means photocopies of it are acceptable. I sent in a photocopy of my receipt. You may need your real receipt in case you purchased other items on the same receipt (for returns, etc.)

For those who have bought and looked at the CX and C 5 day models, I know there's not much difference...but after looking at both, do you prefer one over the other?

If so, which one, and why do you prefer it? TIA!

I have both for a day. Not really any different. The one with the antenna seems to get the weather information faster (2 minutes vs 10 minutes) the first time (but it could be because they were put at different locations in the house).

I don't know why people are concerned about the rebate and considering sending the three in separately. I was initially concerned based on these statements, however, I just looked at the form that is linked online and saw something I missed before. Besides the obvious fine print that says 3 per household.. right underneath the box where it lists the SKUs, it has a line that is: _____X$50.00=_______ So that's where you're SUPPOSED to note ___3___X$50.00=__$150.00__

I'd say it's safer to send in ONE submission this way.

I picked up the last 7-day model today, before church, at my second WalMart. It rang up $129, but I was able to convince them it was only $75.

Observation: The 7-day models are so much bigger than the 5-day models. 225% bigger screen. 6"x6" vs 4"x4" screen size. 8" vs. 5.375" diagonal. Everything in the upper half of the display are larger, numbers and icons. The bottom half which shows the individual days are the same size, except there are 6 days displayed on the 7-day model, instead of only 4 days on the 5-day model. The 7-day model does costs $25 more, but I like it more also.

Owner's manual for both the 5-day and 7-day models.

Added: one thing I noticed is the 'c' model's AC adapter is smaller than the 'cx' model AC adapter. Not sure that makes a difference though.

I for one like the looks of the 'c' model more. Chrome nameplate and chrome buttons. Personal preference I guess. The 'c' model has a very small antenna stub coming out of the top. Look at the photos I posted of the two 5-day models in the wiki post above.

Special Features (7 Day Model)
UV Index (7-Day Model Only)
The display indicates the current UV index on a scale from 0 (very low risk)to 11+ (serious risk to unprotected skin).
Wind Speed (7-Day Model Only)
The display indicates current wind speed (in miles per hour) and direction.
High Pollen (7-Day Model Only)
This alert indicates that pollen levels are higher than usual in the selected location.
Low Air Quality (7-Day Model Only)
This alert indicates that low air quality has been reported in the selected location.

From the manual:
If you seem to be having trouble receiving weather data, check the Signal Strength Indicator bars to the right of “ambient” in the top right corner of the display. If your unit only shows one bar, move it closer to a window or try placing the unit in a higher level of your home or building if possible. Two or more bars of signal strength will ensure your WeatherFX stays up to date, and will improve battery life, since it doesn’t have to “work as hard” to receive the network signal.

Does anyone know if the 7-day model has a magnetic mount for mounting it onto the refrigerator? The 5-day model packaging indicates it will, but the 7-day does not indicate that. Thanks.

The 5-day ones are $45 at the Fairless Hills, PA store. They still had a few left, but just a heads up, this store is closing for good on July 14.

BigDutch said:Oh forgot what I really wanted to post... I found some "hidden" features!

1) Hold the time-zone button, then press location UP. This will change the temp. from Fahrenheit to Celcius.

2) Hold the time-zone button (back) then press location DOWN. This will make it go into Debug Mode. You can see things like version, number of data packets etc... Now press the time-zone button again, and you can set if the backlight will by ON during AC (when plugged in), calibrate yellow and orange levels? Hold the time-zone button to exit debug mode.

Enjoy!

On my 5 day CX unit there is a recessed button that is for changing °C to °F
