Indoor temps are just nice to have. Humidity, be it indoor or out, can be used to guesstimate weather changes. My little La Crosse unit does just that and actually is pretty accurate.
LOTS available in the Chicago NW burbs. Elk Grove Village (Meacham) has about a dozen CX in the clearance aisle (back left corner) and about 10 more on the back wall in hardware. Barrington Road (Streamwood) has about 10 in hardware. They both also had a couple 7 day units. Still priced $50/$75.

I bought both the C and CX to compare. I would go with the CX, not only a beefier AC adapter, but a longer electrical cord. The CX cord is about 18 inches longer than the C, so I'm returning the C model.
My closest Wal-Mart had no 7-day and, for 5-day, had mostly "CX" (maybe 10) and one "C". It seemed that the only advantage of the "CX" was that it could run on battery or electricity, while the "C" seemed to be electricity only. So, you could really go wireless. Did I miss this on the "C" packaging? I bought "CX". Cost was $50.
FYI for those interested all three of my $50 Bushnell rebates are now showing on www.web-rebates.com as valid. I mailed each completed rebate form in a speerate envelope even though I purchased them all on the same receipt.
Ahh, I love web-rebates. This rebate house ALWAYS tries to screw me over - worst rebate house ever!
My $150 rebate is showing with the error: "Purchase was made outside of the qualifying period"
And this is why I always keep copies, and hate dealing w/ these crooks. Grrrr
Now I have to waste my time to call to fix a problem that shouldn't even exist in the first place.

Hmm...any word on the turn-around for the rebate to at least show up on the site? I think I sent my rebate stuff off the 22nd and still see nothing. Like Londo, I made copies of everything before sending it off, but I also don't want to waste my time calling them
Londo said: Ahh, I love web-rebates. This rebate house ALWAYS tries to screw me over
How dumb...I highly doubt web-rebates singles you out. Given the high number of successful submissions, its pretty plain to see this is a legit offer. Of course, mistakes will be made on the part of the rebate staff. Anyone that has done a large number of rebates has had it happen at least once..if not a few times, including myself. Get over it..
Of the 14 rebates I have currently listed at web-rebates.com, 4 of them had been deemed invalid for one reason or another, all incorrectly. That's 28% of my rebate submissions being invalidly rejected. If you think that percentage of mistakes is acceptable, I'm sure glad you don't run a rebate house.
Also, this isn't even counting a $200 rebate I had to fight for for months many years ago. Also, keep in mind this is the rebate house OD used when OD rebates were being mad mouthed big time, so I'm not the only one having problems w/ this rebate house.
I've done MANY other rebates w/ rebate-zone, rebatestatus (before they went under), and never had nearly as many issues with them as I've had w/ web-rebates through the years.
Danzilla said: My store still had a dozen left of the 5 day models. I was curious, so I bought one of each C and CX versions. Aside from the antenna showing on the C version (and the chromed button) the main difference I noted was the power adapter was different. Larger and significantly heavier in the CX package. At the moment I'm thinking they went from a light rectifier adapter in C to a heavier transformer adapter in CX... but I haven't opened either yet. Will update when I decide if I'm keeping both or which one...
Did you open both of them? Which one are you gonna keep and why?

Of the 12 I have listed all were validated properly.
i don't shop WalMart much, but went to look for this at the rosemead, ca, store but they were oos. today i was driving in the pico rivera, ca, area and that store had about 8 of the 5-day model in stock. i bought 3 at $50 ea. now i'll have some use for all the aaa nimh's that i have but have stopped using.
btw, i bought the ambient 5-day weather forecasters from Radio Shack when they went on clearance a few years ago and gave them as gifts. everyone loved them, and it's the most useful gadget we have in our home. my teenaged kids stopped asking, "is it going to be hot today?" or "is it going to be cold today" and they just look at the forecaster. i'm the the sgv of socal and get the los angeles forecast which is close enough.
fwiw, the pico rivera WalMart has lower prices than the rosemead store. i bought some chrome shelving units and a laundry basket yesterday in rosemead for $24.xx and $6.50. today i saw the identical items in pico rivera for $19.xx and $6.00. i used to work 20 yrs in retail pricing, in the IT division. stores are priced differently, either by geographic region, or other groupings. generally, stores in high crime neighborhoods and rich neighborhoods have the highest prices, and lower income working class neighborhoods have the lower prices.

Well, I set them both up, side by side, and I noted a slightly better antenna reading on the CX and had previously noted the larger AC. I think the unit just looks better without the "Antenna bump"

I've received an email today telling me my rebate has been received and is being processed. When I checked web-rebates.com it shows: Your rebate has completed the first 2 of 4 steps. A check request for $150.00 is being processed.
I mailed one request for three units on 7/17. Seems like everything is processing as it should.
On another note, I've found it very comical to read the comments from those that have a need to complain about what this unit doesn't or should do. Its a weather forecaster. It does what your local TV weather forecaster does which as most know is not 100% correct. Its a forecast and subject to changes. Also, depending on what part of the city your forecast is taken from and where you live you may see differences also. If you don't live in or near one of the +/- 150 major cities you will not be able to use it other than to know the weather forecast in +/- 150 major cites that you don't live in. I personally find it very useful to be able to glance at it and have a general idea of the local weather. If one wants a more detailed or the latest current report I would seek it elsewhere.
Bottom line, for the cost of a postage stamp you get an automatic updating weather forecaster.
Hi, My wallmart has few of those Sku# 950007CX but UPC is wrong by one digit (UPC# 029757950009) Do yo think my rebate will not go through? Should I just return it back to WalMart. Anybody with same UPC got approved?

titewad i dont think your link works anymoreFW's fault, they did not actually store the form when I uploaded it, they just stored a link. I uploaded the form again from my PC and it's on FW's server now. FW needs to fix their upload service to actually upload the form from the 'net instead of just linking it.
This is why OP's need to get into the habit of uploading the rebate forms when they post a deal.
It has now been 4 weeks since I've mailed my rebate in and still not appearing on web- rebates. Anybody else have to wait this long to see it appear there?

After a couple weeks web-rebates updated.
Your rebate has completed the first 2 of 4 steps A check request for $150.00 is being processed.
Now the real test begins, actually having them approve and mail the check. I made copies of everything so i'll wait and cross my fingers.

I have been on step 2 of 4 for well over a month now!
Mine was rejected for missing UPC. After a two minute phone call, it was corrected. By the way, the phone number for Web-Rebates in the wiki was incorrect. I made the correction.

It took about a month to reach this level but my rebate finally reached the 3rd step, Check Approved! FYI - I sent in all three rebates using one form.

Received an email Tuesday, August 25, 2009 9:01 PM, but just now checked the Web-Rebates site for the status of Bushnell Outdoor Products rebate program for Bushnell Weather FX 5-Day Forecasting $50 Rebate Offer Number 493-17 which, according to "Bushnell Outdoor Products" <BounceBack_6342_7781981@FulfillmentProcessing.com>, "will be validated based on the requirements as printed on the rebate form."
I was disgusted to note that for the status of my rebate, the site says: "Error(s): Purchase was made outside of the qualifying period"
Well it just so happens that I have a copy of the rebate form including the rebate requirements and my sales receipt and the purchase was NOT made outside of the qualifying period and I can prove it. I am just flabbergasted that those folks could post such a thing on their web site!
