Still better off buying a 40gb ps3. Even though its a little bit more, the sharp only supports BD profile 1.1. At least you get a video game system as well.

Yea, for more than double the cost you get a video game system.. What a bargain!

A little more? A little more would be $20 or $30, not $240!! PS3 is almost triple the price. If you consider that a little more, what are you doing participating in FW?

You are such a genius, yeah right

Just a word of caution...The predecessor to this player, the BD-HP20U, had horrible reviews and many, many reports of incompatibility with newer BR movies plus very slow load times. If you look at the reviews on the Dell site, there are some of the same comments regarding this newer player so some of those issues may not have been resolved. It doesn't seem like Sharp is having very good luck with BR, unfortunately.

true, but some have said they updated the firmware, and it seemed to work fine

Amazon reviews also report many issues with this player. This is a good price but I'm not sure whether this is a good player.

Well there are always those Sony credit card deals or you can usually get 15% off at Dell.

fyi, i have this model (latest firmware) and it has trouble playing some videos that I burnt to dvd-r.

edit: since updating the firmware, I haven't had an issue with any of the 25+ BD's played on it

Even though its a little bit more, you have a range of 3000 nautical miles, and you don't have to endure those security lines!

Seems like a lot of Blu Ray players getting cheaper nowadays... Is something new coming on the horizon or are there so many no good players out there that they keep getting returned

alert mods

Thanks OP. I personally don't care if it doesn't support BD profile 2.0. After EPP and/or DPA this is a very good price for an above average player. I can live with the 45s-2min BD load time.

More pathetic ratings (1) than Good (5). 29 to 27. Even those with 5 and 4 says 'some issues'!!!

Would not prefer a single issue while watching movie. Fun Ends right there. So NOT for me.

Although OP's deals not bad ....

I would think the new model Panasonic DMP-BD60 at Amazon for $200 would be a much better choice for a $50-$60 more , w/free ship/no tax for most . LINKY

The Panasonic DMP-BD60 is the successor to the renowned DMP-BD35 and includes :
Profile 2.0 support onboard decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio Essential
