Thanks OP,nice find. For those looking, it is on page 10 of the weekly ad that runs July 9 through 15. You can print the coupon, but it should also be in the ad in the stores. The biggest problem may be that the stores will run out of gift cards...

They *should* do rain checks since it is a sale item in their ad...just not sure since it is a gift card though.

rain check would simply be on the coupon itself so it should be OK. ALSO! remember, you can pull BP/Shell gift cards off the shelf at another store (Kmart, CVS, etc)....since they are not activated they are worthless. Just take it to Publix and buy it there to have it activated.
PS: check with other store manager/cashier at CVS/Kmart if it's ok if you take one or two so they don't think you're shoplifting. again, the cards are worthless until activated, they are just a piece of plastic so they may not really care. YMMV on this method if Publix is out of them!
Awesome, I'll have to stop during my lunch break and pick on up. Thanks! Wonder what their sub of the week is this week...their new $5 whole sub promo is a tremendous deal. Suck it, subway.

you misread the date The sale STARTS on July 8 or 9 and is good THROUGH July 14 or 15 depending on the start date.

Just stopped by publix and picked up 15 of them. there are plenty left. But I believe it will run out fast. The tricky part is the cashier can only use 5 coupons for one purchase.

There should be no tax on gift cards. You are just buying the amount you want. Though I'm not sure if there are any activation fee similar to AMEX gift cards.
Anyone in the Fort Lauderdale area willing to pick some up for me and I'll pay you back when I get there on the 19th?
Just another note of cost saving, at least with my experience with BP here in NJ. If the station have a cash / credit price, you get the cash price when using a gift card.

on store gift cards typically there isn't one. however, you should read the fine print on the back of the gift card for each individual merchant to see their terms.

And some credit cards will count publix as grocery for 5% CashBack.. wow!
I just stopped by Publix at lunch to buy a Shell gift card. They were not able to activate it. The manager said the problem was system wide, but would hopefully be fixed soon.

They are indeed having issues, I tried to buy 4 but when they tried to activate the 4th one the system stopped responding. I did get 3 out of it though so I will be back after work to try for a few more...
same here, have been there twice, not able to activate clemsonugrad said: Same here. FW effect - I was told so many people were trying to buy gift cards that we crashed the activation system. LOL.

yea, just checked with 4 stores. none of them could activate the cards. The manager had no idea and said they could fix them by tomorrow morning. (hopefully)
So there is no limit on the number of cards you can buy? Is one coupon needed for each card, or can you get several cards just using the single coupon?
20% off gas is pretty hot! That's ~$0.54 off a gallon at current prices in South FL.
I wonder if these have the inactivity fees that some cards have if you don't use them for awhile....

The last BP card I had from last year states on inactivity fees. When I called to check the balance, it seems BP had updated their policy to remove inactivity fees and that if your card mentions it to ignore it. This was from late last year / early this year. Unsure of Shell.
BeanTech said: So there is no limit on the number of cards you can buy?.... I went into a store at 10:30 this morning, and they couldn't activate any cards. Went back to same store at 2:30 to buy five cards. The guest services manager had no trouble activating the cards, but she told me they had just received a communication that told them to limit purchases to two cards, and that's all she'd sell me. I told her I'd just come back tomorrow, or later in the week, and she told me just to go through another cashier's line. I did, and purchased two more. I think we'd better get these while we can, before they set to many after-the-fact restrictions.
BTW, if you haven't bought your card yet, you might hurry up. The manager at my Publix said that they already had notifications that fleets were sending out people to buy them out. They didn't expect to have any left past tomorrow.
I got 2 of these cards a few months back. Turned out, when I tried to use the second one, the pump and attendant said it wasn't activated. I went back to Publix with my receipt, and it turns out they gave me the wrong card. In other words, they rang up two cards, activated those two, but handed me only one of those two. The other I got does not match the "last 4" on the receipt. I did not and have not ever had other BP gift cards, so there's no chance I mixed them up.
So I went back to Publix and tried to reason with them, but they treated me like I was trying to get an extra card out of them by lying, showed me the receipt and told me that they couldn't do anything. So I challenged the charge through American Express (which I used to buy the cards), and they just ruled in favor of Publix since they proved that they sold me and activated two cards.
What can I do now? I seem to be out $40, as I have no proof that I purchased the unactivated card I have in my possession nor do I have the card that they apparently activated and say they gave me (because they didn't). I'm extremely frustrated. I've learned my lesson that I should match the number on the receipt with the actual card number, but I doubt many gift card consumers actually do that. Any ideas?
