Today could supposedly be the shipment day for those of us who ordered on July 29th. No, I haven't received any correspondence from the seller since the day of the sale.

Has ANYONE actually received their Mini 9 from this seller? Or even heard anything about their shipment?

hream said: Today could supposedly be the shipment day for those of us who ordered on July 29th. No, I haven't received any correspondence from the seller since the day of the sale.I've been reading some of the feedback Dell has been getting. They appear to have a habit of shipping items without notifying you first. So your Mini may just appear on your doorstep without you getting a shipping confirmation (as promised).Has ANYONE actually received their Mini 9 from this seller?Nope.Or even heard anything about their shipment? Not a word...

I received a prerecorded phone message last night after 8:00 pm.It said that the shipping date had been changed to Sept 1 and that if I wished to cancel the order I would receive a full refund.
Amazon plays that game very well.I am still hoping for the Sept.1 shipping.

Huh. No phone call here. I emailed Dell last night, so hopefully I will hear something from them the next day or two.

Aside from the Celeron processor I'd say it compares very favorably to the Dell in this thread, especially considering the Asus has a better webcam and 5 times as much storage space (Asus 20GB SSD vs Dell 4GB SSD). If you didn't dive after the Dell (or can manage to get a refund from them) you may want to consider this Asus.

I tried.It is OOS

I pretty much gave Dell the ultimatum this morning. I messaged them on 8/19 to find out the status of my order. Still no reply. If I don't hear from them Monday, I'm disputing with PayPal and buying an Asus or Acer. It was my first Dell laptop purchase, and it may be my last. I don't care about hackintoshing. I just want a reputable company that actually will send you a product you've ordered.

By the way, we're not alone. Check out this discussion:

I got this message Sunday night:

dell_clearance_store said: Thank you for your question and purchase from our store. I show that your order is in production with an expected shipment date of 8/26.Luckily, they sped up shipping. That makes me feel slightly better. Will I see it by Friday? Probably not...

Here's are some experiences from the forum members over at mydellmini.com:

MikePA said: Ordered on July 31st. Received second 'Your order has been delayed' email today with the delivery date moved out another 2 weeks, for a total 4 weeks from the original date. I am letting the order auto cancel and wont be ordering any more PCs or laptops from Dell.sifr said: Dell is now claiming that they're out of the N270 processor. (8/12)

WTF? Now I'm really annoyed at Dell. (8/13)

So, they claim to be out of CPUs (which are in at least two other models, so I call BS on that), and now they claim to be out of screens and HDs (used in at least one other model)? (8/14)

Sigh. They just changed by expected delivery date to 8/28. I'm really annoyed right now. (8/18)

Oddly, my expected delivery date was modified again this afternoon, to 8/26. Called to find out what the deal was, and nobody knew why my order's been delayed. Way to go, Dell! (8/18)

Dell delayed my mini again, until 9/4. I ordered it on 8/3. (8/25)
mike_c70 said: I promptly cancelled the order. At least someone else will get their sooner by getting mine! LOL!

I've had it with Dell and their antics. Is it our problem that demand for the product is high? It's not our fault that you can't fulfill your promise to deliver a product. I've never dealt with a worse company in my life.

I actually got an email from a supervisor a day after I cancelled, apologizing and stating that they "muddled up" my order. He said that if I were still interested, he would personally follow my order (how is it any different?), give me free overnight shipping and an extra 5% off my order. Sorry, but the only way you get me into a Dell is if it's free. Dell's customer service and their handling of my order left such a bad taste in my mouth, I've completely lost interest in doing a hackintosh.

I'm looking at the HP mini. It's a shame as the Dell has the best looking machine out of all the ones in my price range but there's no way I will deal with a company like them. And I've decided to buy from a B&M store. In the end, I'll be paying a lot more for the same machine but at least I can yell at someone in person...

Here's some feedback over at ebay.com:

Plus, I've only seen a handful of feedback from eBay members actually getting their Mini 9's...

I bought mine through Dell on 7/29. My ship date has been pushed back 3 times. Last week, after 6 hours of trying to find someone to help me, I have been getting email updates from someone in iondia on the status. The latest one from today said I should have it on 9/2. Everyone in Dell support is in India and it is hard to understand things sometimes. Very frustrating.

How exactly are you folks getting an up-to-date status on your shipment? Just calling the main Dell number and giving them the eBay auction number? I don't have any other info to give them ...

hream said: How exactly are you folks getting an up-to-date status on your shipment? Just calling the main Dell number and giving them the eBay auction number? I don't have any other info to give them ...Message them through eBay and ask for an update. If they don't respond to you within a couple of days, send them another message telling them you'll cancel your order if you don't hear back. That's what I did. I'd much rather be able to check the status through the Dell website though...

Thanks, threatening to cancel got me a response ... except they just apologized and told me to use my order number to check the status on DellCustomerCare.com. I would GLADLY do so but I was never given a Dell order number! This whole situation sucks so unbelievably hard. Luckybob04, have you been able to actually track your order online?

I apologize for the delay in the response. The Mini Laptop you ordered is in production. Due to high demand we have experienced a small delay in fulfilling orders. We are working very hard to process the order and have it shipped to you. You may check the order status by visiting Dellcustomercare.com and use the order number provided to you in the email confirmation. Again I really apologize for the delay this was unexpected and we are working to rush your order. Rich From Dell

hream said: Luckybob04, have you been able to actually track your order online?Nah. I tried to through Dell.com, but it's almost impossible without an order number.

I could probably get passed the fact that they sold laptops they didn't have (I know, less inventory = less overhead $) if they've been having issues with their suppliers. But at least keep your customers in the loop...

Apparently, threatening to dispute the auction is the only way to get a response. I sent a reply shortly after posting their response above and I've already heard back.

Thank you for your question. Your Dell order number is XXXXXXXXX. I show that your current expected shipment date is 9/4, and I have increased your shipping to next business day delivery to account for the delay in your order. Please let me know if I may be of any further assistance. Thank you.

Despite what he says about my shipment date being 9/4, dellcustomercare.com shows an expected delivery date of 9/11. Hmmmm ... next business day shipping but a full five business days before I receive it. Interesting.

I got the next business day shipping deal too...buuuuuuuuuut I think it's too late. I'm probably gonna cancel my order. I wonder how much Asus netbooks are running these days...

I canceled my Dell Mini 9 order today...exactly one month after ordering it. The CSR I emailed was quick to respond and apologized again.

The unthinkable ... the unbelievable ... it has happened. I'm ecstatic that it finally shipped, but will I ever order another D3ll computer after all of this mess? Highly doubtful.

Hey, congratulations! I ended up buying a Mini 10 from the Dell Outlet, it cost less than the Mini 9...and it shipped the same day. Too bad they can't do that with their new products...

Ultimately, I think my eyes will thank me for the bigger screen.

Thanks. Enjoy yours as well. In hindsight, it does seem like we both should have taken your approach to begin with. You live, you learn.

I'm typing on my Mini 9 right now and it's pretty nice, except the single/double quote key is in the wrong spot on the keyboard. I'll adjust. The best part? Since it has a SSD (albeit only 4GB), it's COMPLETELY 100% SILENT. Ahhhh. Glorious quiet.

Hope everyone else who followed and ordered through this circus has theirs in hand by now.

Hey thanks, I'm sure I will enjoy it too. In fact, double the pleasure, double the fun I guess! I got this email three days after canceling the Mini 9 and ordering the Mini 10:

dell_clearance_store said: Dear Customer,

Dell has shipped the following item to you. You can
expect this item in up to 6 business days depending on your location.

Item title: Dell NEW WHITE INSPIRON MINI 9" UBUNTU LAPTOP COMPUTER
So, maybe my approach wasn't entirely the best...as I now have to straighten this out. And here I thought I was done with Dell customer service. They gave me my money back and the claim through eBay was closed...and yet they still sent it away. Odd.

Wow! That will be interesting if you actually get it. I personally didn't get that "shipped" email until after the day after I actually received the shipment. So maybe the email was accidentally triggered when you canceled ... or maybe you're the lucky guy who gets two for the price of one!

Oh, I'd pay them for it. But I'd definitely subtract the Cash Back money that went bye-bye once the order was canceled. I mean, there's nothing I could find on "uncanceling" an eBay order...

Still wondering if I'll actually see it.

I take it that the Mini 9 never actually arrived?

That would be correct. They probably said it shipped just to keep their records straight. Still happy (for the most part) with my Mini 10. Still adjusting to the trackpad, but I'll mess around with it.
