Just checked out the gizmo5 configuration page, it now has a Google Voice section where you can input your GV username and password. What this does is when you setup a VoIP application or phone with your Gizmo5 login information (make SURE you are using the 10+1 digit gizmo5 phone number to login, not the gizmo5 username), you get free outgoing calling! No more using a separate application or the web to call your gizmo5 number first with your GV #. Just pick a contact and call away. This is great news that gizmo5 and google are collaborating together. I forsee another google takeover soon (I hope).

I tested this with Siphon (iPhone app, from Cydia - free, allows calls over 3gedge) and was able to make outgoing calls right from the VoIP app - before I had to open GVMobile (separate app to call your Gizmo number first before placing the outgoing call), otherwise it would state "you have no gizmo5 outgoing credit, etc".

Steps:
1) Login to your gizmo5 (www.gizmo5.com) account page
2) enter your GV username and password
3) Go to your SIPVoipATA Device or application and enter the following:
-Username: your 10+1 digit Gizmo5 number found on your Gizmo account page
-Password: enter your password
-Server: proxy01.sipphone.com
If you don't have a Voip devicerouter, you can just download the gizmo5 software.
4) Login to GV and add your Gizmo5 number and verify it - pick up the call when you receive it and enter the verification code

DONE - free, easy to use outgoing and incoming calls with your GV number! Everything works great, when you call out, it shows your GV #, and when ppl call your GV #, it should ring your gizmo5 account!

You can also buy an ATA addon and hook up your landline phone to it and use the same settings! Been reading forums and it seems that the Linksys PAP2 NA is the recommended ATA: PAP2 NA on eBay

If youve never heard of gizmo5, they allow unlimited incoming calls. Now this is where Google Voice steps in and the magic happens, whenever you want to call someone via GV, it requires it to call your phone, and then use GV to call out - so basically every call incoming and outgoing, is really incoming. Gizmo5 just made it 100 times easier with this integration and now no callin is required to dial out.

Old Cumbersome Method: Gizmo + Gizmo + PAP2NA + Google Voice = Free Phone Service
New Easy Method: GV + G5 + ATASIP softwareGizmo5 Software = Free Phone Service

This has gotten very popular within the past couple days and now there is a 20 minute call limit using GV + Gizmo5!

edit 2: looks like they pulled a bait and switch and now may limit calls to 3 minutes!

Not really a deal, but thanks for the awesome info. Tested and it works great.

Well I was going to post it in Free forums, but I was comparing with Skype prices and OOMA and this is worth more $20

Many thnaks OP.
Do you have any info on how to setup/configure Linksys-PAP2 for Gizmo?

Unfortunately, I just ordered one through eBay, so I dont know the specific way to get into the configuration pages. But it should be simple if youre PAP2 is unlocked and you can just enter the settings:

IP Settings

* Proxy Server (Host): proxy01.sipphone.com
* Proxy Server (IP): 198.65.166.131
* Registration Server: proxy01.sipphone.com
* SIP Port (UDP): 5060
* STUN Server: stun01.sipphone.com
* STUN Port: 3478
* User ID: 17471115555 (replacing with your 1747)
* Auth ID: 17471115555 (replacing with your 1747)
* Password: (your gizmo5 password)

I've been using my GV account for free outbound calling for some time, but doing it through web callback was a little inconvenient. This full-blown marriage with Gizmo5 is great.

Thanks ranova!

I hope they buy Gizmo5 and become Google5

Can this somehow be rigged up with an Itouch? Or do you need a phone?

mvpatel said: Can this somehow be rigged up with an Itouch? Or do you need a phone?

yup, it just requires you to be on wifi and plug in your headphones with a mic on it.

Jailbreak your touch, install Siphon and Backgrounder, and set it up. Pretty simple

Darn! No windows 7 support.

did you try turning on winxp compat mode with the gizmo software?

That's what I did and it works on Windows 7 with compatibility mode.

OK I've set it up but now every time I call a number from my Gizmo5 VOIP phone I get an immediate incoming callback from my GV #. Is this how it's supposed to work?

ranova--you made my day! Thanks so much. If only I could get a guarantee that this would last, then I would get rid of my landline all together...

yea even making the GV # my main # makes me iffy, seems like a big money sink unless they implement ads and such.

Can this work with Asterisk PBX?

Is there a version for N97?

Yes it does. I just confirmed it with my Trixbox setup. Free incoming AND outgoing calls now!

You've got a PM

thanks op. I was waiting and hoping this would happen. make sure you try out their free conference feature in Gizmo5.

I was all excited until I noticed that Gizmo5 wants my GV login/passwd. Unfortunately my GV is setup on my primary gmail account and I'm not comfortable giving my email credentials to a 3rd party website. Now if only I had setup a GV account on a non-important email ID. ah well..

Thanks ranova!

I am new to google voice and have a question about GV outbound call. If I use my cell as the primary number in my GV account, it will forward the outbound call to my cell, right? Is there anyway to make outbound call through web-application? Thanks for any information in advance.

Thanks. Just added my GV information in my Gizmo5 account page and now FREE US calls thanks to GV! -

I am using Linksys PAP2, by the way. So it works! -

I'm a little confused. I have been using Gizmo for about a year and a half. I just got my Google Voice number set up about a week ago. I have my Gizmo number set up on a pap2 router and I have a paid Gizmo IN account. I keep about $10 in my Gizmo account.

My question is this. How does adding my GV info to Gizmo make my outgoing calls free? Is Google picking up the costs?

Also, are you doing anything different than simply picking up the handset and calling the number you wish to talk to?

I have my Gizmo number as one of the forwarding numbers in my Google Voice account, and I receive incoming calls on it without any problems.

Man so much easier to just buy Ooma and forget about it.

Snotick said: Is Google picking up the costs?

Yes. Google Voice has free US calling so basically GV is picking up the tab for calling US # from Gimzo account. -

Explain #3 please. I havnt used my pap2 in some time. Does #3 refer to loggn into the pap2 or is thrre something I download?
Ive got gv and Ive got Gizmo5, not sure how to marry them.

why Gizmo5 won't recognize my GV username and password? I tried a number of times but all failed. it's really weird.

I really, really hate internet aggregation services that ask you for username/passwords to other sites. For example, Facebook kindly offers to import your contacts if you give them your google, yahoo, hotmail, etc passwords. This always rubs me the wrong way.

Now, in this case, Gizmo is asking for your GV username/password, which just happens to be my gmail username/password. Many people don't realize this, but your primary email password is the most important password to protect - more important than any individual bank, credit card, etc.
Why? Because your email addr is the contact point for all of these institutions... and if someone steals your email password, all they have to do is go to each of your banks, credit cards, etc, click on 'I forgot my password', and a handy password-reset email will be sent to your compromised email account!

I'm sorry, I've used Gizmo in the past, and I like it, but I am not going to trust them with my gmail password!

I must be missing something.
Keep in mind im NEW to Gozmo 5.
I did all the steps above.
When I call my Google Voice number, My pap2 rings now (Way cool).
But I can't call out from the Pap2.
What can I be missing?

yep, you login to your PAP2 config and enter the details. If you dont have PAP2 or a VOIP app, just download the gizmo5 software and make\receive calls on your pc.

For the above setup as mentioned by the op,how are the outgoing calls made?I mean whether we should login to GV or we can make a call with ATA device?

Ahhhhhhh, thanks. and makereceive calls on your pc makes all the difference.

I dont need this but I have all the parts so I might as well tinker with it.

Thank You

after setting everything up after the steps I provided, you can just make calls right from your ATA device!

before you would either have to do a bunch of workarounds or call from the web to your gizmo #.

I got this working with Telephone for OS X.

Freaking SWEET.

Now 3x ways to get a hold of me with 1 number.

Excellent information. Green for you!

So does this means now end of all other VOIP companies?

what software do I use to use my PC for outgoing calls? When I use the dialer on the Gizmo5 home page it says I need to pay for an outgoing call.
This is after everything has been setup already.

I dont know if it will help but this post seems to address the issue you are worried about:

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r22765599-Gizmo5-has-added-a-Goo...

At this point, changing the e-mail address might be hard, but GoogleVoice does give you the option of adding more e-mail addresses tied to the GV account. Perhaps you could use a different e-mail address in your ATA settings.

As for the GoogleVoice PASSWORD, that's easy to change, and it certainly would be a good idea to use a different password for GoogleVoice (different from all of your other Google accounts).

Skipping 289 Messages...

Actually, outgoing calls via my PAP2 show some 909-842-xxxx number on caller ID and the Gizmo5 site shows "Call in not active". Maybe just a time lag? I added the $10 as mentioned above but apparently there is a time delay on that credit appearing too. Things are slow in Gizmo5 land.

Update: Apparently, "Call in not active" is normal per:
