Are you thinking of opening up this external drive to put into your PS3? This drive is only 4200 RPM which is fine for external, but if it was me, I would not want this inside my PS3. If you have the money I would suggest getting a 7200 RPM 2.5" drive.

5200 RPM is standard for most 2.5" laptop drives with newer more expensive models being 7200 RPM or solid state. When connected through USB even USB 2.0 however, you probably will not notice too much difference between a 5400 and 4200 RPM drive.
I have one of these.........................filled with movies.Works flawlessly.Thinking of buying another one.Very dependable drive and works well with the Philips usb powered dvd/xvid players.
These won't fit into laptops IINM - thicker and slower drives. The upside is, they work flawlessly with all USB ports since the drives draw less current.
