I'm posting this deal again because it can't be found in the "search" feature (I guess because the deal is temporarily dead).
This deal starts up again 8/16 as per the grape vine. Look for it in Best Buy's next flyer. Price went from $329.99 yesterday to $479.99 today. As per other website:
"This is NOT a dead deal. Relax people.
These computers aren't supposed to be sold until this Sunday 8/16. Thats when they go 'on sale' for $329.99. Right now, they are listed as regular price. My salesguy told me you can buy it now and come on Sunday and get a price adjustment. He said its better you do that then try to be here with the masses when they open on Sunday trying to fight for this laptop."
AS6530-6522 - SKU 945-9711
Specifications:
AMD QL62 3GB Ram 250GB Hard Drive Windows Vista Home Premium (Free Upgrade to Windows 7) 16" LCD Built-in Crystal eye webcam 3 USB Ports 1 esata/USB port HDMI!
Bought 2 in Paramus yesterday and am very happy with the purchase. Not happy with Best Buy, however.
Or you can do what this guy did to get the right price now.
Quote from: "Its in their computers. If you go to a store and they do a SKU lookup, you can see that the sale date is 8/16 and its priced ALL over their computers for $329.99.
If you feel more comfortable, then go to a BestBuy store and look closely when they do a SKU lookup for you (since its not on the floor yet). Then ask the clerk why he is charging you the higer price when his computer says 329.99. This is what I did. All the stores showed the lower price so they did a price match. I bought one with no problems about an hour ago."

I tried to do the same thing but a guy called corporate and they told him they were adjusting the price to $479 and would not honor that price. I also went to Paramus, btw.

Glad I bought mine last night while they still had the "price mistake", kinda wish we would have got another one.

My big question is do we know for sure that this laptop is going to be on sale starting Sunday? If so, then I will buy one now and get the price adjustment come Sunday. At $479 it is so-so attractive, but at $329 I am all over it. I hope the OP is correct!!!

Does anyone think I may still have a chance with purchasing one for the $329.99 price? I am in Florida, and haven't checked the BB BM here yet. What kind of WEI do these get?

I did look closely at the price on SKU lookup and it's clearly 479 on their computer. I thought about getting one and hope for a sale in the next thirty days, but there is a 15% restock fee even if the box hasn't been opened (I asked). Kind of risky until we get more info.

Bull. If you don't open it, you can return it. Please don't spread fabrications.

Next time you see the bestbuy person who told you this, advise them that they need to check their store policies before giving out incorrect information.
Bestbuy does not charge a restocking fee for an unopened computer.
"Restocking fee A restocking fee is applicable in some product categories, unless you are a Reward Zone Program Premier Silver member, the item is defective, or the fee is prohibited by law. The restocking fee charges are:
* 25% for Special Order Products, including appliances * 15% for opened notebook computers, projectors, camcorders, digital cameras, radar detectors, GPS navigation and in-car video systems * 10% for AppleŽ iPhones"
There is no specification for a restocking fee for an unopened laptop anywhere in bestbuys return policy.

I mistakenly posted in the other thread. I picked up one of these today at $479 based on the OP. If it goes on sale Sunday I'll get a price match. If it doesn't I'll decide then what to do. I have an Acer 14" that I'm satisfied with. I also have a WD TV HD media player, but mostly used my HP laptop (famous for running hot) Google "HP broken hinge" just burned up so this would be a nice replacement. I'll not open it before Sunday.

Hey, I'm just saying what the manager told me. I specifically asked if there was a restocking fee on laptops if the box was unopened and she said that yes, there was and it was 15%.

Here is the Link to the BB return policy. It clearly says open laptop computers.
Also tryed to get one in Tualitan,Or. They would not give it to me at that $329.99. The manager said they would go out of business. What a joke!! LINK
Spoke to one of the associates and he said the $479 is the sale price, anything lower must have been a mistake so i wouldn't buy this unless you're willing to pay the $479. Much like the HP dual core for $399, this is a specially made laptop and the price in the system is the sale price which is $479.

I called my store to verify and in Utah there is no restocking fee for unopened boxes. Call 1-800 to double check their policy.

I can't believe that ppl would read abt deals here and then go ask BB reps for confirmation and mention fatwallet :0
Didn't BB CEO call FWers devils or something like that a few years ago?
Before my sales guy rang me up yesterday, he checked a flyer (I think it was next week's ad but I didn't get to see it). I guess he did it to confirm the price he saw when he looked up the SKU. By the way, lots of people today were able to get the $329.99 price... it was still in the computer system for much of the day... check the other fatwallet type sites for more details on how they were able to get the price (starts with an "s" deals). If you're buying it now for $479.99 and the promo doesn't push through, make sure you don't open it so you can return it for a full refund.

same. but 27 were on order. doesn't seem to make sense that they would sell them at 330, sell out, order a ton more(27 at my store), and then sell them at 150more
By the end of the day, all stores seem to have had their prices in their systems updated for the unit... but this update seemed to have occurred at different times during the day so others were able to still score some for the right price. Sales people were quoting $479 but on their screen in some stores it still said "$329.99"... so some were still able to get the deal today. Stories can be found on the other sites about this model.
Regarding my experience yesterday, I gave the sales guy the SKU, he looked it up in their system to check inventory availability and price. I think he was surprised at the price of $329.99... so he looked at some flyer... in hindsight, i was wondering about why he did this but my guess now was that he was checking next week's flyer to make sure it was priced correctly.... My sales guy was a jerk and I'm convinced that if he in fact was looking at next week's flyer.... and it had a higher price than $329.99 on the flyer, he would have charged me the higher price.
Remember this was yesterday, when the deal first broke out.
My 2 cents.

That manager was probably tired and assumed you were saying OPENED when in fact you said UNopened. He probably just heard "restocking fee" in the same sentence as laptop and the word opened somewhere.......

I agree. IMHO they were sent out for an upcoming sale and were already sale priced.
Amen. Don't understand why (he) felt compelled to mention fatwallet in that (ridiculous) BB forum. My favorite though is where Starflyer59 (Valued Contribitor) offers what he, himself refers to as his 'worthless opinion'.
I quote: "This is just my worhtless opinion but I would count it as a blessing that you cannot find one. You are not going to be happy with this model at all. There is a reason why they are so cheaply priced. Very low end, very low quality and I would be suprised if you get than 8-12 months of use before it dies on you. Save your money and get something better.
I mean seriously. This person has ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what they are talking about but somehow feel compelled to offer their expert opinion as if it is worth more than....oh, nevermind. Why are some people even allowed to have access to the internets? That's what I'd like to know.

I think I'm going to go ahead and buy one tomorrow, & not open it until Sunday. If the deal goes through and I get a price adjustment, do I need to take the laptop in, or just take in the receipt?
Sorry for the newbishness.

Hey I got this today in Ca. My spouse went to go buy it for me on his way to work. It was not on the shelves but on top stock. The associate told him it was 479.00. He said his wife said she called and asked if they had in stock and was told the price of 329.00. He said no go on the price so he asked for the manager who also said no on that price. So he put it down and started to walk away, the manager said, wait, and gave it to him for 349.00! So I"m pretty excited! Great deal, nice laptop! I'll save the receipt and if it does go on sale I"ll go in for an adjustment! Thanks all for the info on this sweet deal! !

Hey thats cool. But the manager was 1) incorrect, 2) hasnt read the policies of the store they're managing, 3) Fed you a line so you wouldnt bring it back or 4) a liar.
There are only a couple of major places that wont take a laptop back in an unopened box. Most will take it back withing 14 days if unopened. Quite a few will take an opened one back if it is in original condition with all the included parts and manuals.
Always read the return policies of a store before you buy. I never buy anything from a place that doesnt give me at least a week or two to return a product, even if opened unless its something I plan to keep sealed for a week or two for a pricematching opportunity. Stores that wont service you to return a crappy product dont deserve your business.

+1, I stopped shopping at BB due to several poor customer service experiences. Yes, this laptop deal is good (at $329.99), but no product is worth saving a few fins (especially when better deals are always up and coming) over having to deal with employees of a company with no honesty nor integrity. BB would be wise to change its customer service practices to emulate such companies as REI or Crutchfield. Ultimately, I see BB going the way of Circuit City or Montgomery Wards.

I didn't really think within 4 months the hard drive would fail. There were no instructions on how to do that anyway just a pop up.
So beware, my hard drive failed before the 4 month mark. I hardly had anything on my computer except maybe 200 songs and 50 pictures. Never used it for more than school work and internet surfing. I am very careful about not getting viruses.
I am pissed that I had to pay $20 for recovery discs when most other companies put them in the box for free.
