Thanks OP for the info. Does anyone have experience in the past that if you attend the morning session for developers and get a copy of windows 7, will you get a second copy by attending the afternoon session for IT professionals?

For San Jose anyway where it's being held in a 20 screen/theater movie place.
I haven't attended one of these in a long time (7+ years). Are they giving away the actual product or do you still have to download the image and burn yourself? Either way, it's a great deal. I think Vista is what Millenium was back in the days and Win 7 is going to be the next XP.
Love it thanks OP. I've been running an RC and really like it dual booting with XP. I was concerned as we don't have the budget to actually upgrade the thing to a true RTM. This is just the ticket. rays: it's the Ultimate version lol!

Well, they have one in Washington, so I got all excited and clicked it!
Too bad, it was for Washington, DC not Washington, UT.

thanks OP... I always go to these .. generally interesting. The last time Bill gave me a copy of Vista Business. I never have install it. Maybe I will give windows 7 a try when I see what it looks like and read some more reviews.
Last time for Vista it was a copy of Ultimate. Two different licenses, one for 32 and one for 64bit. I signed up - Better than nothing... I have to see what I can get via Campus Agreement (right now is either Enterprise or Ultimate for Vista) once the details come out - hope it's the same...
Also, what flavors is M$ coming up with? I hear about Pro... Are we going back to home/pro and ultimate similar to XP (home/pro/media center)?

There's a picture of a blue box, which is Pro, but that's pretty meaningless, since we would never get retail boxes anyway, we'd get Not For Resale cardboard slips with the media inside. And we have no idea if that picture was even chosen specifically.
Last time for Vista it was a copy of Ultimate. Two different licenses, one for 32 and one for 64bit. To be clear, it may be two different licenses (though I thought one) but it was one key. You use x86 or x64, not both. Just in case anyone's wondering. I expect it to be the same this time, though not necessarily Ultimate.

Do they bother to try and verify any of your data? I was thinking AM for one copy and PM for another... Do they check IDs or anything usually? I wouldn't normally bother, but my location is only 5 minutes from my home by some odd coincidence.
EDIT: To answer my own question, according to post-registration email, a photo ID is required to attend. One new question. Do they do give out the free OS at the end of both sessions, right? So with little chance of getting 2 copies, there's no reason to attend both, right? Unless you're really interested in the presentations of course.
i signed up awaiting confirmation. last time i signed up for am & pm on the pm i left then came back hours later to get my copy. so you don't have to stay for the whole event
Thanks! Signed up for Windows 2008 since I can't get into Windows 7. Oh well, this should be fun anyhow. Maybe I can crash into the Windows 7 event and sit in.

Please keep us posted if you have applied for a copy of 64-bit OS and let us know if you and when you receive it.
I received my copy of 64-bit Windows 7. I'm glad since they initially told me that it would take 30-60 days. Plan to install it this weekend.
