About $5 cheaper then I have seen at $29.99, because of the free shipping. Features 2MB buffer and SATA connection. DVD read/write speeds of 16x and 22x and CD read/write speeds of 48x and 40x respectively. Comes with 1 year parts and labor warranty.

isn't the SH-223L a better deal? $25 AR w/ free ship. (Last week it even had an $8 instant rebate on top of the MIR. I snagged it then and posted the deal on here.)
OP, add bulk to title. Most bulk (OEM) drives do not include software or cables.

Yes, but some of us does not like to deal with rebate. Thumps up for the above deal.
Is this the best drive to buy these days? I bought a pioneer 115D and it gives me problems, not sure what to replace it with. I thought a 115D at the time would be good but it gives me CRC error with some files if I try copying from a disc burned in it on another pc haven't used the drive very much either..

I just bought one, thanks OP! And yes, this looks like a good drive, excellent reviews at Newegg compared to the SH-223L.
5/5 from 97 reviewers + Customer Choice AwardBecause we all know reviewers at Newegg hold the same standard as those at CD Freaks and do the same amount of disc quality scanning before giving it 5 stars.
What's the difference between the 223B and the 223F. I think that the last SATA Samsung 22X burner I bought was a 223F. Wondering if those are still available.
I gave this deal green though, because Newegg has raised their DVD burner prices, and no longer offers free shipping on the cheaper drives.

I gave this deal green though, because Newegg has raised their DVD burner prices, and no longer offers free shipping on the cheaper drives. Different (newer) Mediatek chipset inside the 223B. At this stage in DVD burner development, newer isn't always better. The S223B burn quality issues could likely be resolved with firmware updates though.

CD Freaks does not have an official review of the product. Random Newegg reviewers are about the same quality as random forum reviewers.

My parameters for a good drive don't include random forum reviews. I bought one. If I have any problems with it, I'll let you know so you can post it on CD Freaks.

You're probably of the "it reads my discs fine and it successfully completes disc writing fine, so everything looks good" crowd. But I'd be happy for you to prove me wrong by posting your own review of the drive here that's of a higher standard than the ones on Newegg. I'm not holding my breath though.

That's the one I keep seeing being thrown around all the time lately too, thus probably what I would pick up if I was in the market for one. This is one aspect that's worth getting the popular proven drive vs saving literally a few dollars for something that you will have around for awhile.
