Starting September 28th through November 4th Microsoft is hosting free Windows 7, Server 2008 R2 and Exchange Server 2010 launch events across the country for IT Professionals and Developers. Part of "The New Efficiency" marketing campaign the events will showcase the new products and what they mean for IT professionals and developers. Visitors will be able to choose to focus on either IT or developer sessions and then pick what product they want to "Deep-dive" into for the afternoon. All professionals attending will receive a free copy of Windows 7 Professional while supplies last.
Thanks for the info but unfortunately, it looks like MSFT has significantly reduced the number of locations they are holding events at.
Over the years I have attended many similar launch events in both the Norfolk and Richmond, VA areas but the closest available this time is in Wash DC. A lot cheaper to just BUY one or more copies of Win 7 than to make a 400+ round trip to DC and probably spend a night there in a hotel too.
Granted, I will miss the ambiance of the event but I can contain my disappointment...
a habit of FW, registered 2. Should I get 3 instead?

I registered (for the KC event), even though I am not sure where I 'll be on Nov4th ... That is such a long ways away. I may not even be with my current employer!
Only the Exchange Server spots are available. Will they still give out Windows 7 there?

I think any attendees will get a copy no matter which seminar you go to. At least that's what it says on the page. Do I really have to be in the IT industry to get one?

I signed up for the Server 2008 session, but that wasn't my first choice.
Maybe they'll have openings that day from people that don't show up. AND

As I posted in the DD thread:
From the registration page-
Please choose the session tracks you are interested in attending below. (This question is for planning purposes only. You are able to attend any track on the event day.)
If Win7 is full for your location sign up for Server or Exchange and then attend the Win7 sessions when you get there.
Thanks OP, see y'all in Chicago!

Iam not a IT professional. Can I too attend the sessions and get a Win 7?
This is highly recommended... went to the Vista events and also another one a few years before that - free software, no questions asked, and you can really learn some stuff too if you're interested! If not, I definitely have seen people in the back reading magazines and the like...

Thanks OP, even if it was a repost I had missed the first thread, and this is a nice deal. Free intro to the OS features (even if probably more from a marketing perspective) and a free OS is a great deal for a few hours of time.
Signed up for San Jose and only had Exchange 2010 open, but as someone else posted it says you can actually attend whichever topic you want.

arghh.. windows7 session in Dallas is full. Only Server 2008 and Exchange 2010 available. Picked Exchange..
From the main page it did stated, "All professionals attending will receive a free copy of Windows 7 Professional while supplies last." Also when you sign up it did say it was for planning reason and can attend any of the events... at least that is the one for L.A.,CA.
