Not only do you get a 80GB Playstation 3 for $296.88 + $8.07 shipping (in-store shipping is free) for a grand total of $304.95, but you also get a good game (MLB 09 The Show - a $39 value) and a good movie (Quantum of Solace - a $20 value) on Blu-Ray no less. The Playstation 3 alone is at least $26 off, and that doesn't even include the bonus Blu-Ray and video game. The bundle also includes one Dual Shock controller.

I'm definitely not thread crapping, but I'm not sure this a good deal, unless you're really into those two titles.
The new Slim model is only two weeks away. It uses 50 watts less power than the old model, which eventually surpass any cost savings. The slim model costs $299.
Note: The baseball game is for the 2008 season, not the current 2009 season.
For me, I'd rather have the slim design and the power saving.

True but some people like how the older design looks so it might be good for them. I am waiting for the slim as well though. Gonna get a second one for my room.

Your wrong, the game is for the current season, I have it and its one hell of a game.
With the old model, you can install Linux, which you can install emulators. Some people would say that's a good trade off. Also, I think the older model is aesthetically more pleasing.
Either way you go (old 80 gig model or slim 120 gig model) this is an exiting time. Finally the price for what many consider the king of all consoles in terms of graphic power, is near where it should have been all along - $299. Now we get to have fun choosing which one we want. It's a personal preference. I personally could care less how the console looks as long as it gives me reliability and great features. I'm not buying it to look at the unit. I'm buying it to look at the screen. As long as the new slim PS3 is reliable, I'll choose that one and its huge 120 gig drive.
I don't think it can play PS2 games. I have the 80GB version at home, and it's not backwards compatible (the one major drawback). But I don't know the new Slim will be able to - I completely forgot that one was coming out with a much lower price tag!

? In order for it to be 'for the current season' the makers of the game would have had to use time travel. The current season is not done yet so the best a game could do is use last year's stats and project a player's ratings for the start of this year.
at www.Sony.com you can still get a PS3 80GB with a free controller for $315 total S&H included!

With a 299.99 price of the slim, or even the old 80gb, the money you save can be put to purchase a used ps2 on the cheap to play your old ps2 games on, without needing B/C on the ps3.

Sony once again has left off PS2 backwards compatibility in the forthcoming PS3 slim. Not sure about upgrading the hard drive.

Let me guess....you don't play a lot of sports games? They generally come out close to the opening day of the current season, have current players and maybe the rookies (nba, nfl) and are for the current season.

Yup, my bad. It's easy to get confused when Tiger '10 and Madden '10 are out. I'm always tempted to think that all of the current season should be a year ahead of actual.
Good deal if you dont want the slim. I think the current gen ps3 is one of the most ugly consoles ever made so I am eagerly awaiting the slim.
But good deal if you need it.
I predict even hotter deals on this ps3 after the slim comes out.

Because I can name 10 other consoles uglier and I think the majority of this forum or in the world would agree. You truly fall into the minority with your opinion. And an opinion it is; not to mention a ridiculous one.
