This is sounding like a publicity stunt. Wikipedia says CVS has almost 7000 stores. 100,000 free shots is only 14 per store. I'm guessing they will get 10 times that may applicants. Wouldn't surprise me if the application asks for all kinds of personal information, which CVS will then use for whatever they want.

Exactly... It's going to turn into that Oprah-KFC disaster.
Please note that vouchers will not be distributed at CVS/pharmacy stores or MinuteClinic health care centers.
CVS Caremark has announced a donation of 100,000 free seasonal flu shots to the unemployed, using vouchers that will be distributed at select government-run One-Stop Career Center locations.

While I'm sure that your match is probably correct, I doubt that this will be offered at every location. More than likely a small % of locations giving out hundreds of shots.

Hopefully that means your personal information will stay at the unemployment office and not get stolen by CVS.

My 12 and 10 year olds are unemployed Would this work for them?
johnny98 said: Do you just show up at CVS to get your free flu shot or is there some application process? The press release is kind of vague.
The "click here" link appears to refer to their regular $30 flu shots.

Actually, unemployed in NYC and wondering about the comment about "a no cost MTA monthly unlimited metro card" -- any experiences, suggestions on how to do that? Can't seem to find any info on the One Stop centers offering that...
If you have no insurance, or your co-pay is more than the cost of the shot, here's some deals on flu shots:
CVS - Their circular said when you get a flu shot, you get a $100 coupon book. But the fine print said no purchase required, so maybe you can just ask for the coupon book anyway.
Walgreens - flu shot $24.99, 10 am - 4 pm, 7 days a week
Pathmark - circular says you get a BOGO flu shot when you purchase $100 of health & beauty care items (excluding baby items) from 8/28 - 10/29 using your Pathmark Advantage card; you'll get a certificate for the free shot for another person when you get your own; flu shot clinics 10/1 - 12/23 Their website says when you sign up to reserve your flu shot you'll get a $50 coupon book.
A&P has the same programs as Pathmark
Stop & Shop - get $10 off the regular $30 cost of the flu shot with your S&S card; flu shots are available starting 9/11
Rite Aid isn't offering any deals at the moment; flu shot is $30, pneumonia shot is $45
Costco flu shots (and pneumonia shots) is Costco. The flu shot is $20 and pneumonia is $35. They take cash or will bill Medicare if you qualify. You don't need to be a member to get the shots there (or to use their pharmacy, for that matter). Just tell the person at the door checking memberships that you're going to the pharmacy and they'll let you in).
I would never take a vaccine... mercury in the vaccine damage your brain and your immuine system. Congress ron paul warns people die from the Vaccines not from The Flu. 1976 history tells the truth. Check out this youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJiTStZtrlE I love FREE and Fatwallet, but not everything.
> mercury in the vaccine damage your brain and your immuine system.
For the 2009-10 season, manufacturers project producing approximately 50 million doses of thimerosal-free or preservative-free (trace thimerosal) influenza vaccine http://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/qa/vaxsupply.htm
This shot should immunize against A/Brisbane/59/2007 (H1N1); A/Brisbane/10/2007 (H3N2) and B/Brisbane/60/2008. I will not provide immunity against the novel 2009 A/H1N1 (aka Mexican or Swine Flu).
There is some inprovement... however, I will stay away from taking vaccine since it's not proven. We will never know about the new developed vaccine unless we see other people taking it and wait about 1yr to see the symptom... it's all about slow kill...
I like the scare mongering without any substantive reason... "The number of people who did not get a flu shot last year is alarming," said Troyen A. Brennan, M.D. If you're gonna get one anyway, take the free one, but don't get it just because it's free. Do your research before injecting this into your blood.

Maxim accepts Aetna insurance at all clinics listed on www.findaflushot.com. Maxim is not collecting fees at the flu shot clinics from Aetna members presenting their Aetna ID card. Maxim will first bill Aetna and will later bill the member for any amount not covered by the member's plan. Members should consult their plan documents to determine their individual coverage, or call Member Services at the number on their Aetna ID Card.
Walgreens is distributing up to $1 million worth of seasonal flu shots to uninsured individuals across the country! Candidates* who visit a Wellness Tour bus location between September 17 and November 15, 2009 will receive a FREE flu shot voucher. It's good at any Walgreens pharmacy or Take Care Clinic through November 30, 2009.
*Uninsured patients age 18 and older only. Influenza vaccination applies to seasonal flu shots only. Vouchers distributed in select markets, excluding Puerto Rico, on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last. One voucher per person, per bus visit.
Just an fyi, most pharmacies can't do shots for minors yet but if they have clinics in them like Walgreens and cvs do they might be able too. Good piece of info i saw at work today, if you can't get a free shot but have AAA a $24.99 shot became $15.11. I could not find anything on their site about it if someone finds something.
The N1H1 vaccine is not properly tested. The histeria created by the media goes hand in hand with big pharma going after profits. Use your heads: injecting yourself with vaccine that is not tested is outright dangerous.
I'm not doing either shot, but my work is freaking out about the swine flu one, so I called CVS and got this info: They are starting to give out the shots October 13th in my local CVS, and they are only giving out the seasonal Flu shot, not the H1N1 shot.

Evidently, working on three things at once will increase the chance for a severe misspellings. Is there a vaccine for that?
In Massachusetts, you can go here (http://flu.masspro.org/clinic/) to find H1N1 flu shots. Seems that there are plenty of locations with H1N1 available. Mine was free. YMMV.
