Fry's electronics (Dallas location) has the Amd Phemon II 710 tri core cpu retail boxed for $79.99. This is a one day only sale, and this price may be good at other Fry's locations. The 710 is rated good for overclocking on some motherboards, and is disappearing from some venders. Amd may be discontinuing this cpu, so get one while you can if you need an upgrade.
Figures - the online price is $120. Please put "Brick & Mortar" in your title. I was going to buy this at $80, but there are no stores within 200 miles.

almost no chance of getting getting an x3 or x4 phenom for cheap.Where have you been hiding? The new Athlon II X4's are almost as good as the Phenoms for less money. Newegg has the Athlon II X4 620 for $99. The Athlon II X4 630 is $129.99.
Look for more deals in October as Fry's closes out older model cpus. Last year, I picked up an Intel e4500 retail boxed for $49.99 with free ecs g33 motherboard. If fry's does this again, I'll be sure to get one or two sets as good spares. They may not be as cheap this year, but if it happens, it will probably be for only a couple of days.

That was an exceptionally good deal back when Fry's had good combo deals regularly (I got the E7200 + G33 for $59.99 during same event). Even the best combo deals in the past 6 months can't match up against a typical sale from the previous years. The VP scandal has led to a shift in Fry's retail strategy.
