Buy an Xbox 360 Elite between 9/22 & 10/5 and get $50 Back (US Only)
Stretch Your Entertainment Dollar with Special Offer from Xbox 360

$50 Rebate Offered with the Purchase of Xbox 360 Elite through Oct. 5

Beginning today through Oct. 5, when you purchase an Xbox 360 Elite for $299, Xbox 360 will put $50 back into your pocket with a limited-time rebate. Coupled with the recent price drop of the Xbox 360 Elite console, this offer makes your premium games and entertainment experience more affordable than ever.

Xbox 360 Elite puts all your entertainment in one place so you can play games, watch movies and TV shows, listen to music, and, coming this fall, keep up with your Twitter and Facebook social circles, all from your living room. Additionally, with a Netflix unlimited membership and an Xbox LIVE Gold Membership you can instantly watch movies and TV episodes streamed from Netflix, recommend your favorite shows and share in a movie party night with up to 7 friends — all on Xbox LIVE.

And, as announced earlier this year, the Xbox 360 you buy today will work with “Project Natal” and controller-free gaming in the future.

You may be eligible for the $50 Mail-in rebate when you purchase an Xbox 360 Elite in the U.S. between Sept. 22 and Oct. 5. Visit www.xbox.com/eliterebate/ for more details and rebate requirements.

This is super hot if you can combine it with the Dell deal

I don't see why not. Nothing on the rebate form, as far as I can see, says anything about having to pay full price. This IS super hot. Almost makes me want to buy a 2nd console.

I saw that, but that's only a line from the article the OP links to. I don't see any mention of that $299 on the actual xbox website or on the rebate form. Do you?

This coupon sweetens the deal at Dell - down to $254 b4 rebate. 6FWJ247J1P44CK

I want a 2nd console, too. Is there a way to transfer my data from one elite hard drive to another so I can have my games on an upstairs elite and a downstairs elite, or would I have to chose which games to play where, or just use one hard drive and carry it to the elite I am using?

just bought one 2 weeks ago

274$ with coupon what a hot deal!!!! NOT!

Can someone clarify what the "D3ll deal" is? Just did a quick search and nothing seemed to pop out. Must be missing something stupid.

Edit: Unless it's just the fact that it's $30 cheaper on D3ll.
(However, that appears to be OOS)

you could also use this to preorder the new ELITE MW2 BUNDLE coming out in NOVEMBER... the $50 mail in rebate has a postmark date of Novemeber 20... the bundle comes out around november 10

Not as good as the Dell deal.. but still something to think about if you want the 250 gig HD, mw2 and a extra controller

Now try subtracting $50 from that and tell me what you get.

They have it for ~$250 after coupon code with free shipping. That, minus the $50 mail in rebate would bring it to ~$200 + tax. I'm still able to add it to cart right now, but I haven't tried checking out.

They do have this transfer kit, but then that's to move your data from one drive to another, not replicate it. You might have to go with the hacking route in order to accomplish this.

Well...D3ll is famous for cancellation emails...but I was allowed to order. Will see what happens. $229 once all is said and done. Not too bad if ya ask me!

Great deal, thanks! Pulled the trigger on one from de11 - here's hoping that it goes through.

I'm sure there are others who are more knowledgeable on the subject, but my understanding is that the transfer tool deletes the contents of the host drive during the transfer, and that games are tied to console (not hard drive). If you want to play Castle Crashers (for example) upstairs and downstairs, you need to buy it twice or do a lot of gamertag recovering.

If I'm wrong, I'd love to hear how to work around it!

Of course, anything you play off a disk you can play anywhere. However, if you install the game to your downstairs elite, take the hard drive to the upstairs elite and try to play it, your XBox won't play off the hard drive upstairs.

I love my 360, but I really wish they'd implement something for multi-console households like the PS3 does.

I have a memory card for arcade games and user profiles so I can go between multiple systems. Not the most elegant, and requires you be connected to live on any systems other than the one the content was originally downloaded on (due to DRM). not the most elegant solution but it works for me and the wife.

Just an FYI; Amazon has the system still listed for $299; but they also explicitly mention the $50 mail in rebate when you buy an elite. It'll make it about $25 more expensive then the Dell system even with the tax savings figured in but it'll be useful in case Dell goes OOS or you just don't feel comfortable gambling on the Dell offer.

Is anyone worried that if you order from Dell, it has an estimated ship date of around October 9th (from someone who just bought one on other site), thus being after the rebate date of October 5th? Would rather do this deal than the Microcenter one, but not if I miss out on the $50 rebate...

You're confusing the purchase date requirement with the shipping date.

As long as you order it before the 5th and mail the rebate before 11/20 I don't see what the problem would be.
Rebates always go by order date, not ship date.

I understand that, but was worried that, since it's back-ordered, that Dell will not charge you until they receive them and the date they charge you will be the bill date. And it could be like October 6th or 7th.

So if I order today, it should show today's date on it, and not when they actually charge me?

Thanks.

I don't think the ship date matters as long as you receive the item well before you need to send in the rebate. However, on a preorder for the 250 g elite, since Amazon.com does not charge your card until the ship date, in Nov., I don't think the rebate would be applicable.

Excellent question! Will wait to hear from the experts.

Even though I got a purchase id number for my order I didn't get an email. I just called Dell and they said my order didn't go though he didn't know why.
Anyone else check their status?

Placed the order again, this time I received an email confirmation.

The question I'm asking is how does Dell's receipt work? Do they put the order date as today, or when they actually charge you?

It doesn't matter when they charge you. Think about every time that you have ordered something online, what shows up on the receipt? Your online receipt will show the date and time ordered, not the date and time charged.

Re: Status.

Got my email conf. ~1 hours after I placed the order.

It's definitely a pain to try to move your saves from an old box to a new one. Easiest suggestion is to get a memory card you can save them to, and use that. You'll pretty much have to go with a third party card, though. The pricing/memory on the cards from Microsoft seem to be stuck somewhere in the early 2000s. ($29.99 retail for 512 mb? Seriously?)

Even the third party cards are a bit of a ripoff, but that transfer cable mentioned earlier is only available on eBay (by the ToS on the cable, you're actually supposed to destroy it after one use). Should you manage to find one, it requires you install software on a computer, and it will only make a transfer once.

You can swap the hard drives, but that's also a pain, and requires a lot of gamertag recovering.

FYI, I found all this out after my xbox got the RRoD. I absolutely love the xbox and xbox live, but it is a microsoft product, and sometimes the reminder on that is fairly painful. Great deal, tho.

I looked into this a bit last night, and on Microsoft's website, it says you can't copy information from a 120 gig HD with their product. On eBay, however, there are tons of devices for sale that seem to be Microsoft branded, which will allow you to do this. These things ship from China, so I don't know how legitimate they are. At less than $10 shipped, it can't hurt to try. My problem is that I upgraded my 20 gig HD to a Western Digital 120 gig. It works wonderfully, but I plan to sell it after I get my Elite. With the Chinese product, I think you just transfer the data to your PC's HD, then from the PC HD to your new XBOX HD.

No. I guess if you were going to buy one through Dell anyway, it couldn't hurt to try the rebate.

Thanks to everyone who responded! All the info you gave clarified things for me. I thought it would be so simple to have two and just copy info or switch one hard drive between 2 consoles. Maybe I will just carry the whole xbox upstairs and call it good!

I bought one the day the price dropped last month at Best Buy. Think I can pull off the return and rebuy?

mungbai said: I bought one the day the price dropped last month at Best Buy. Good approach, thanks. I'll probably just play it straight and see if I find someone sympathetic.

does anyone thing Bing CashBack at Dell/eBay considering that's MS will kill this rebate?
